How can it end badly? Sorry if this is a dumb question. :)
Well, people can react to a comment like that in ways that might tip the scum off that they are, or are not, the doctor. The scum always are trying to figure out who the town power roles are (if they exist) so they can kill them off quickly.

If someone is a doctor, they'll tend to react differently to a doc claim then a non-doctor would (since if person A is doctor, and person B claims doctor, person A knows person B is lying).

Even just joking about a doctor, or anything like that, can give hints, either hints from the person making the joke, or hints based on how other people react to a joke.
yes yes, I could see how that could end very badly, in truth I hadn't thought of such a possibility, on a side note if my name ends up confusing you guys can call me 4th, or Dr.Who I suppose.

About the joking of roleclaims I'll keep that in mind.

Welcome, then, newbies of Game number...whatever this is. Anyway, I am your Semi-experienced player. That is, I have played at least two games on this site. Rayfrost is the other one and Yossarian2 is the IC. Thank you, Haylen, for making me a wiki page. Now I can record my great(and not so great) legacy. Tracker, is the site you refer to www.epicmafia.com?

Wow. I didn't even notice dimaba was here. He's the only one I've played with before.

I've decided to vote Rayfrost because he enters himself into every single game in the newbie queue, making it hard for common-folk like me to get a game in edgewise. I think Dimaba is fine at L-3, he'll post eventually.

Vote: Rayfrost

That said and done, Good luck! (Because if your scum, you're going to need it. If you're town...well it's just a nice thing to kick the game off with.)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

If this has even so much as piqued your interest or you'd like to talk, please send me a PM. Even if it's to disagree, insult me, or just to say you're sick of reading the verse, I'm glad to listen.

Jackabomb is obv scumbuddies with Haylen.

He's pullin' out the chainsaw defense.

unvote, vote: Jackabomb
(obv, this is omgus)

And yah, I'm a SE, even though I'm technically experienced enough to be an IC.

I choose to be a SE instead because I lack the confidence necessary to put myself as an IC. Especially when [insert bajillion people here] disparage my play.

Anyway, some general stuff that is useful to know...

For putting links into your post, you can do the following:

Code: Select all

[url= insert link here]whatever you want the linked text to be[/url]

For linking to specific posts, look for the little paper tag in the upper left part of the pose (to the right of the avatar and name), right click it, and click copy link location. You can then paste that into the url spot and voila.

For quoting, it is as follows:

Code: Select all

[quote="whatever you want here"]text text text text[/quote]

Note that you can include the url tag within the quotations to create a link, like the following example
Jackabomb in post 28 wrote: Wow. I didn't even notice dimaba was here. He's the only one I've played with before.
Some useful terminology include OMGUS, WIFOM, and [insert another one that I forget at this time here].

Some other things to remember are that myself, jackabomb, and Yos2 are all
obviously town
fellow players who may or may not be scum.

Although we are here to help introduce you to MS and Mafia, we are still playing to win as well.

That's all for now, folks.

One key note:

It's generally not a good idea to rely upon the wiki tells for the main arguments in any of your posts. Many of the wiki tells are outdated or have (like chainsaw defense) a special requirement for them to work.

It's useful, but don't rely too heavily upon it as "solid facts" or anything.

Some other nice places to go are Mafia Discussion and the threads there

well no you can't rely on 'advice' as solid fact because each one of these games is going to be subjective to the people playing it, which is going to make each game unique.

Your attitude regarding the game is serious enough to do well while relaxed enough to not become stressed out over ridiculous things, as far as I can tell.

I've found quite a few of the poorer newbies suffer from extreme seriousness which causes some kind of anxiety disorder or from being too laid back and not doing anything due to not taking it seriously.

umm...I still suffer from that and I've been here 9 months...:( ~ Hayl

Isn't Haylen our moderator? Are you serious about your chainsaw accusation or joke/RVS/reaction testing? As far as I can tell, if you're serious, you are accusing me of chainsaw-defending haylen.

I live in Texas, Fort Hood.

Haylen is one of the few players that I've only played with them being scum and actually doing something (I'm not including alternating 9p where you did squat, hayl).

Bloodlust mafia - me maf, her sk (she won against 3 scum with one vig and one VT in play)

Newbie game (forget which) - me town, her mafia (I lynched lurker-town vs lurker-scum in lylo :( )

So it's a running joke between us that haylen is scum.

And it's obviously a joke, Jackabomb.

@Yos: Terribly sorry. I really didn't know doing that in RVS could mix up the game like that. I'll be more careful in the future.

@Jack: No, it was a subforum of a voice acting board I was a member of a few years back. I have long since quit that site. I also played RL Mafia at camp about 10 years back, but that was random lynching unless a Cop claimed.

I'm from Ohio, which is in America. Oh, and I think I was suffering from 'overserious' my first game. XD I'm going to try to relax a bit more.
In the grand scheme of things, wins and losses are pointless. But I'm not the grand scheme, so die scum!

I agree, the point of playing games like mafia is to enjoy yourself, and generally if you are ultra-serious you won't enjoy yourself as much.

Dimaba and Cdubs have not posted scum buddies perhap? No no unlikely but possible, I assume many new players as scum could find lurking an opportune way to stay out of the mix, but its not really a sound strategy with experienced players also placed in these games.

@Dimaba and Cdubs

If either of you are active could we have reasons for why you are not interacting with the rest of the group?

Until answered I'm sure supicions on both of you will begin to rise not only from me but from the others as well , and none of us want that if you happen to be townies.
