Yeah. I don't see how it helps town, but it helps scum by giving them an idea of how the town is likely to worship vote, which they can plan for accordingly.

Actually, thinking about it harder, there's probably two scum groups, with four each, as well as two third-party roles. I say two scum groups because otherwise the worship mechanic would be easily abused by everyone on the same scumteam worshiping the gods that benefit them the most. Two third party because in a game this size, why not?

I'm kinda ambivalent about ABR's exercise -- it's not as if there's nothing to talk about, so it might just derail us without accomplishing anything, but I like doing what ABR tells me to for the most part, so I'll oblige:

4x4xjuiced SK'd be my guess. Large games I've played all have 2 scumgroups, plus the worship mechanic makes that less good.

Preview edit: This matches SK's pretty closely; is a coincidence.

2 x 4 multiple factions + some form of neutrals that kinetic likes to throw in ala SpyreX and Mufasa in Wheel of Time. Adding up to ten all together I think.
1. That, or people changed their minds after the worship vote claim for some reason or other.
Well I'm sure those people would come forward then and explain why they did so?

As for the scum being able to plan, well they could. But what can they do try and move it to where it's beneficial to them? It's possible but it could also expose them. i don't think talking about who we're going to worship is a bad idea at all.
are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?

I am deliberating whether I want to stay in the
shadows
this game, or go full out and hog the spotlight like Hilary Clinton on
Girls Gone Wild
. What do you want, majority?

I have a very complicated role PM. The good news is that I have a
fool-proof way
of bending this game in the majority's favor, but I need some town coordination with the worships.

Do you guys trust me?

Will you appoint me your chief, citizens?

I won't be mad if you don't, you will be saving me lot of effort. OTOH I just finished my semester so I can seriously devote my time to this game.

See this?

Image

That's me. I'm like Mufasa on Pride Rock. Except in my version, Scar is stuck in a hole somewhere because I catch scum like that. Trust in me like you trust the stars to shine on a cloudless night.

Oh shit, that's not Scar, I think it's Nala's boyfriend. Damn it. See? Let that be a lesson to you. Don't look to me to determine who is scum. But if you trust in my word for the worships, I'll provide you some nice advantages. Rampage for president.

Whatup game.

I am interested in ABR's business and will subscribe to the newsletter.

HOWEVER, I am waiting for confirmation on something but this whole hullaballoo with the voting may a.) be my fault b.) not be contained to voting and c.) only fixable in two ways - one of which is lynching me.

Depending on response I will have more information.

GO GO BEST RANDOM VOTE EVER:

Vote: SpyreX

(Yea, I don't even know who this is voting but I dont care at the mo because we're not going to do anything stupid until I get this issue figured out, k? HINT: THAT MEANS IF YOU ARE COOL AND CAN DO THINGS DURING DAY DO NOT DO THEM YET)

Have I mentioned how long it's been? It's always been too long. It depends on whether or not there are multiple scumteams. If one team, eh, I'd put it at six. Maybe maybe seven, but probably not. If two scumteams, perhaps four apeice (but with heavy immunities?) if they're symmetrical and who knows what if they're not, but probably no more than nine total Mafia in either case.
This is not the type of answer I'm looking for. If you had to say how many scum there were, what would you guess it as? Assume there is only one group, plus SK(s).
Six. Plus SK(s), probably, but six.

Though reading forward, good points made by those who're arguing two scumgroups. At this point I know little enough about the Worship Mechanic in general to know that one scumteam would be at risk of abusing it (and multiple scumgroups isn't the only way for a Mod to build safeguards against that; I've recently been coming to the conclusion that there are general multiple ways to fix a mechanic against scum or Town monopolizing the potential gains too easily). I digressed there; point being that multiple scumgroups is a decently likely scenario and if not there'll be some others with some ulterior interest in the way the Worship Voting goes.

SaintK - Semiserious vote on you thar. About as bad as a not-too-hot random vote could get you. It would not be a main pillar of a case on you for the lynch as the day progresses, but if it came to that it would be a minor supporting point.

Fate probably Town at the moment. If the declaration of ABR as Town comes from some degree of knowledge we're not entirely aware of, I'm getting shades of a Town move Zito made in a recent completed game. He should know the one. And it would also point to ABR being Town.

Perfect timing for ABR to come out and post like that, on preview. Yes, ABR, you can be my hero.

Second preview: HIYA SPYREX!

Fate, you need to explain what you know about worship win conditions and how you know it, now. Because I rather doubt worship win conditions are town-related.

I'm not sure about appointing ABR town chief, not without some good assurance that we're making the right decision.

To answer ABR, 2 scum groups of four each + 1 SK.

As long as its just town coordination with worships, I do not have a problem with that (for now).

CMAR is scum.
SK is scum.

raj is possible scum - not in the same group as SK.
