Ok, roles are out, it's night 0, submit night actions if you have them or confirm via PM. Once everyone's confirmation or night action(s) are in Day 1 will start.

It's Day 1.

SensFan didn't confirm, but that's cool, since he was killed. SensFan, the token non-confirming cop, died n0.

Hey people. This is my first mafia game in a couple months, and I had to replace out of my last two. I'm out of school now, so I should definitely be able to complete this game.

One thing that I've thought about is a possible Miller claim. In a closed setup, most people agree that a Miller claiming Day 1 is a good idea. This setup is different, and I haven't come to a definite conclusion yet, but I'm leaning that it is probably a good idea.

Pros:

-It gives the Cop a definite 2 (or 3) people to NOT investigate EVER.
-If 2 people claim Miller, then that's 2 confirmed innocents that the Mafia have to deal with (if they kill them or not).
-If 3 people claim Miller, then we can scum-hunt freely among those three (with better than average chances), without worrying about accidentally outing the Cop.

Cons:

-The major thing against this idea is that it gives the mafia two less targets for the cop.

Whatever happens though, we have to ensure that the Millers both claim before the Cop ever does.

Indeed I am. What would you think about a Miller claim? I think other opinions on it would be nice.

I think Millers make my head hurt. I was a Miller once.

I think Crazy is unaware of the rules of the game, or he wouldn't have suggested an idea that is assured not to work on account of the Millers getting townie PMs, thus not knowing they're Millers and obviously being unable to claim.

It could have worked if the scum were also unaware of the rules and one of them claimed Miller. :P I had no idea, btw.

That makes me want to go into a rant about game balance, though... there's another game on the Open Queue that has 3 Goons up against a Role Cop, 2 Watchers, AND a Hider!

As for us, we're essentially playing a mountainous game with a Cop that has so many deterrents (Tracker, Godfather, AND Millers) that it's about 25% of the power of a Cop in a normal game.

I feel that, in order to clarify Rule $#14, I should state that am not a real person. I am made of smoke and mirrors. Shattered mirrors.

Also,
@Mod: You have no rules about prodding. Can you prod everyone now? I'm about to fall asleep here.

, for being the second person on the first wagon.

So, some questions:

@everyone

What is your policy on lynch all lurkers? (agree, disagree...)
Do you prefer playing as town, mafia, or power roles?
Why did you choose the username you have :)

to not be a hyppocrite, I'll answer:

~Day 1, and possibly 2, I would lynch a lurker. Especially if it's active lurking.

~ I like playing as mafia better, but I
want
to enjoy being a townie more. So, I'm trying to play more.

~I joined a forum where there was a role play that most of the site participated in. My character was named smashbro, and early on, the heroes created an organization, called the Super Smash Saviors. Hence, smashbro_of_the_SSS.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
oh, and it's long to type out, so I go by any of the following nicknames (feel free to make up your own): smashbro, smash, smashy, bro, brother of smashing, SSSS, Quad-S.
Disagree. Lurkers have a chance of being VTs bored with their role, PRs trying to avoid attention, or scum. Lurking is a nulltell.
Do you prefer playing as town, mafia, or power roles?
PRs.
Why did you choose the username you have :)
Because I wanted to?
I used to think that ALL LURKERS MUST DIE. Now, not so much. They just need prodding, a bit of offboard stalking, and maybe a hug or two.
smashbro_of_the_SSS wrote:Do you prefer playing as town, mafia, or power roles?
I've always wanted to be a Serial Killer. Never have gotten the chance yet. I like playing town and mafia pretty much equally.
This sounds wishy-washy, I'm sure, but it really depends on the specific circumstances. I try to figure out if they're lurking strategically (which means OMG LYNCH THEM) or just caught up in RL. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone lurk strategically, though... I imagine it's very rare. Active lurking is a different matter, and is very scummy.
smash wrote:Do you prefer playing as town, mafia, or power roles?
I like playing both as town and scum, but if I play too many games as either, then I get annoyed. I always prefer town power roles over town vanilla.
smash wrote:Why did you choose the username you have :)
When I was a kid, I was pretty crazy. My usernames on other sites were iamsoooooocrazy. People called me Crazy, for short. I signed up as "Crazy" on this site, because I didn't want an annoying, long username. Now most of my usernames on different sites are either "Crazy," or if that username is taken, I use "CrazyOne."
I see every lynch as a individual decision. Sometimes it makes sense, other times it doesn't.
Do you prefer playing as town, mafia, or power roles?
To be honest, I've NEVER gotten a Mafia role, and I've been in over a dozen games (here and elsewhere). Of course, I prefer a PR over a VT role.
Why did you choose the username you have :)
I am involved in several Fantasy Wrestling leagues (yes, I am a nerd). My characters name is Johnny Rotten, so I used it here.
1. Lynching lurkers is certainly justified in certain situations. I'm always reluctant to lynch lurkers because I have been on the other side of the situation and it oftentimes yields less-than-desirable results.
Furthermore, it can be a good opportunity for scum to get an easy townie lynch - especially in the early game.
2. The more powerful the better. Night is no fun w/o special powers!
3. An old friend gave me the name in an FPS game (lol COD 1). I've never been known as a guy who dRools or anything. ;)
ANYWAY, I used to play competitive smash bros. A lot. So, my competitive nature forces me to
Vote Smashbro
Why did you choose the username you have
- I entirely disagree with the notion that you should lynch all lurkers as a matter of policy, since I'm of the opinion that it's more of something that VTs do.
- Uh, mafia over town, and I love playing power roles.
- My name is Izzy B. I am frequently dizzy, and I was born on the 13th of December.
1. Lynch active lurkers all the time. Not only are they deliberately not contributing, but they're also taking down the game's activity levels and making it hard to read them in the future. IRL-problems lurkers should be constantly pressured (i.e., ask them a lot of questions) and prodded, possibly lynched if no particularly scummy targets present themselves (e.g. on day 1 or even day 2).
2. I generally like being scum more than town. I don't really care if I'm VT or a power role as Town, though I'm almost always VT.
3. Username is from a name generator.
MOST INTERESTING USERNAME ORIGIN STORY YET.
