News story about the massacre in downtown Cerenzia, 23 agosto 2010

Inside the Calagesi villa, Cerenzia, Italy:
The doors are barred, the shades are drawn. Even in the best of times the Calagesi estate is a well-decorated fortress, and this is far from the best of times. After yesterday's massacre, the family and employees of Don Bastiano Calagesi are divided on what to do next. The Don's sons want to inherit the Family Business and take over the ; most of you just want to move on with your lives. Where do your allegiances lie, and can you actually make your dreams come true?

Rules and Roles

Rules
  1. The mod is still god. There are some unusual roles and mechanics in this game. Feel free to PM me, but don't just assume I've made a mistake. I'll answer in thread if I have, but may not if it is intended behavior. I will not
    lie
to you, but I may not tell you the whole truth, either.
The mech tag is reserved for my use!

  2. Voting occurs at the end of a gun barrel in this game. Specifically, your gun:
    Aim: (Name)
    to 'vote' for someone.
    Holster
    to unvote.
    Finger of Suspicion (FoS)
    can become
    Wave Barrel at (Name)
or anything similar, if you like. I won't be a Nazi about this, but it does add flavor.
  3. Once enough barrels are aimed at a particular person, they will be swiss cheese and the Day is over. No one dies if a deadline arrives without the required number of drawn weapons. Remember, you're goons, not townies; act like it!
  4. Everyone but the dead player may speak in Twilight until the night scene is posted. The dead player may ONLY finish up a post they were already writing, and only within one RL hour (2 1/2 'game minutes'; see below) of the firefight (hammer). I reserve the right to edit excessive final posts by dying players, though I will clearly mark my edits with the
    tag.
  5. Dead men tell no tales. If you wish to make a 'Bah!' post, send me a PM and I will edit into your scene, ensuring that no game-related information is shared.
  6. Nights will last around 72 hours, perhaps somewhat shorter in the late game. If you need an extension, let me know.
  7. This game is on a 1:24 timer during the Day, with each 24-hour period in the 'real world' equaling 1 hour of 'game time'. Days will start promptly at "6:00AM" and go until "midnight" under normal circumstances; that is, 18 real-life days. In the exceptionally stressful situation of a late-Day replacement or multiple major wagons, I may grant a short extension of up to 20 'hours' (20 RL days). However doing so will cut into the next Day's length! Finishing a Day early may grant you a few hours to 'bank' for the following day, at my discretion. Every Vote Count will include the current game time, so you know exactly how long you have before you fall asleep.
  8. Acting like a goon does not require personal attacks, flames, or spamming. Violators will be re-educated with extreme prejudice.
  9. Don't edit or delete existing posts. See Rule 8.
  10. Don't quote to this thread any PMs/QuickTopics/private conversations you may have access to. See Rules 8 and 9.
  11. Don't discuss this game out of thread unless you have permission from the mod. See rules 8, 9, and 10 for clarification.
  12. No strong cryptography or steganography in this game thread. Questions about what qualifies should be directed to me by PM.
  13. If you're going to be gone for a significant length of time, let everyone know. Management not responsible for other players believing your claim of absence, however.
  14. Don't make me make you shoot yourself in the head. If you want to 'fake' breaking a rule, you'd better clear it with me first, otherwise I may just believe you myself.
  15. Have fun with it; this is a bit different type of game.

This game does not have an Open Setup; however, for balance reasons, here are two sample Role PMs:
Sample TownieYou're
Bruno
, one of the goons of the Calagesi
'ndrina
. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), your Godfather was lynched by the town. Now you've got a chance to go open that pizzeria and be a normal citizen, if only you can get rid of the Capo's two ruthless sons. During the day, you can use the threat of your gun (vote) to discover the truth about other players. During the night you had best keep to your room and out of the way.

Win Condition:
You win when the Capo's sons and their allies are dead or neutralized, and you can go open that pizzeria like you always wanted.

Powers:
  • No Night Actions:
You may not leave your room or converse at Night unless told otherwise (in an ordinary game, you would be considered a ).
  • Vote
    (active, day, via thread)
    :
You may vote for any one player at any time during the Day; I prefer if you use the flavor phrase
    Aim: Player
, but the VOTE: tag works as well. UNVOTE: should become
    Holster
, if you can remember to do so.

Sample Power RoleYou're
Bastiano
, Don of the powerful Calagesi
'ndrina
. You rule the (admittedly small) underworld of the town of Cerenzia with an iron fist, and until recently no one even suspected of you of being involved with the mob. Now the uppity town has started to cause problems, and it's time for you and your boys to take action!

Win Condition:
You win when the Town has been eliminated, or nothing can prevent that from happening.

Powers:
  • Vote
    (active, day, via thread)
    :
During the Day, you may vote for any one player at any time; I prefer if you use the flavor phrase
    Aim: Player
, but the VOTE: tag works as well. UNVOTE: should become
    Holster
, if you can remember to do so.
  • Faction Kill
    (active, night, via PM)
    :
You are a ; as such, each Night you may order the murder of one Townsperson. Select a member of your criminal organization to perform the kill, and they will do their best to see that it is done. If you die, this ability will pass to one of your sons.
  • Investigation Immunity
    (passive, night)
    :
You will come up as Innocent to any Cerenzia Police Department investigations, unless you conduct the Night Kill yourself that evening.
  • Kill Immunity
    (passive, night, single-use)
    :
You also have a one-shot Night Kill Immunity through the efforts of your driver/bodyguard.
  • Faction Allies
    (special, night)
    :
Individual members of your organization may also have additional skills to offer you; discuss them at Night in this QuickTopic.

'ndrina:
A local unit of the 'Ndrangheta criminal organization in Italy. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/'ndrina for more information.

Roles have gone out; confirm by PM, as the thread will stay locked for Night Zero, which will end at noon on Sunday, August 29th.

Night Actions
are
possible on Night Zero (unless you have been told differently), so send them in ASAP. If you have any questions, feel free to send them by PM as well.

::edit:: Rule 10 has been clarified.

You all stumble blearily out of your rooms, belting on your shoulder holsters and eyeing each other with varying levels of suspicion. If you were regular citizens, you might just choose to walk away from it all, but there's too many secrets... too much potential for it all to catch up with you, if you can't end it here and now. And so the showdown begins...

Day One has begun; with 20 alive, 11 drawn guns will be needed to execute someone. Day One will end no later than noon on September 16th, or midnight on the game clock.

So the scum are cult like. The only two scums in the game are the two brothers. They get to recruit a player every night. I don't know what else happens if they do this or what is the drawback. I just assume the two brothers are the bad guys. There could be more. The cult like mechanic is there though.
