RNG directed votes are (lightly) scummy because there is no arbitrary reason behind the vote. Therefore, your vote conceals your intent other than the fact you want your intent obscured. That said, a self vote from a RNG isn't scummy. If done right, it can even generate discussion faster.

Agree with this. It does my head in more than anything. I can't see anything positive which would come from doing it from a townie perspective, and yet RS decides he doesn't think its worthwhile discussing. But anyhow.. I'm leaving my vote here for now as it's the most anti-town thing that's happened so far although I concede, I don't think it's a particularly strong scum indicator

In response to chihuahahuahauha, I don't think there's any particular advantage in publicly working out who lovers are as that only confirms targets for scum and meaning they get two for the price of one.

I have a view on self voting and self hammering but my tangible evidence is in an ongoing game so I can't show it.

I think that self voting/hammering as town is extremely stupid. I think that self voting/hammering as scum has certain times where it is appropriate but should be used as a last resort.

The self vote in this game was just stupid.

There's absolutely no reason to vote for yourself if you're a townie.

As a townie:
You don't want to get lynches, obviously. You're wary of doing stupid shit that might make everyone turn on you accidentally. You are also aware of joking around but there is a certain line where jokes become scumtells, which most townies are aware of.

As scum:
You want to be joking around so you look like a townie, but often scum will accidentally step over the 'line' and slip up a huge scumtell.
