Secret reason that would also work against me for calling cruelty scum:

QFT. I think we should nom parama for best town player , if scummy nominations are still open (is there such a reward?).

There's Best Pro-Town performance (single game) and Best Scum Catcher (Body of Work).

Also, I think that this setup was inherently imbalanced, dunno how it got past the normal reviewers. 3 goons vs. Doc, Vig, Backup? To get rid of the vig they'd have to kill all 3 PR, and they didn't have any player immune to NKs :/

Meh. Any setup is going to be screwed over with 2 scum being exposed in 2 pages.

Setup:

3 Mafia Goons
1 Vig
1 Doctor
1 Universal Backup
6 Townies
DavidParker, VibeBox, cruelty PM wrote:You are a Mafia Goon along with XXXXX and XXXXX.

You have infiltrated Pointlessville to take it over as part of your world domination plan, but oh no! You've been discovered!

It looks like you're going to have to blend in with the crowd. During the day, you have a vote just like any other citizen. At night, you and your scum buddies can choose 1 person to kill and send it to the mod via PM.

Your night quicktopic is here. You can talk there until the the game starts and during the night. You may not PM your scumbuddies, or anyone else about the game.

You win when the mafia outnumber the town or nothing can prevent the same.

Please confirm in thread.
KageLord PM wrote:You are a Vigilante.

You're not quite as friendly as the other residents of Pointlessville. In fact, you're willing to go as far as to kill others during the night with your handy 10-ton weight.

During the day, you have a vote just like any other citizen. At night, you can PM the mod who you want to kill.

You win with the town.

Please confirm in thread.
Kitoari PM wrote:You are a Doctor.

You are very handy with your life saving skills and can prevent one person from dying per night. Unfortunately, your skills don't quite stretch far enough to save yourself.

During the day, you have a vote just like any other citizen. At night, you can PM the mod who you want to save.

You win with the town.

Please confirm in thread.
charter PM wrote:You are a Universal Backup.

You have many useful skills and can do well at any job you want. But there's a slight problem.

All the gaps in the market for your skills have been taken! Perhaps if you wait long enough, you'll finally be able to use your skill.

During the day, you have a vote just like any other citizen. As soon as a Town Power Role dies you will take their place. The mod will PM you the details.

You win with the town.

I actually didn't kill you for the RVS thing. DP is quite a bit to blame for me picking you first though. ;)

And well done, Parama. I was honestly a bit annoyed with the playstyle early on, but can't argue with results.

Moo's right about any setup being imbalanced with 2 scum being nailed D1/N1, but still... I think they could have done with an RB.

I suddenly remembered my PM after I was under some heat.. and thought oh god. I actually am scum. My "bussing" of Vibe was me legitimately thinking he was scummy. Then when I remembered I was scum I had no idea who third scum was.. Checked who it was, and thought what the hell- I'll bus them too. By then it was obviously too late. Problem was I had 3-4 games all start at same time so I got a bit confused :O

Cool game. I didn't put much effort into it apparently but Parama did a fine job as town.

Seemed to be way heavily town-weighted to me. Am I alone in thinking this?

It was a setup skewed by Page 2. If that hadn't happened, massclaim wouldn't have been viable, etc, etc.

On the contrary, I'd say this has been one of the better balanced set-ups that has been produced in the Little Italy forum. With a 65% scum winrate in 3:9's, it's obvious that something is wrong, and it's largely because of mods giving mafia teams too many perks in conjunction with giving towns too few powerroles. Mafia played poorly this game, which was the root of their undoing, not the set-up. I'll be happy to come to Moospiker's defense about balance issues if you want me to go deeper, but I think you're mostly feeling this way because you're subconciously used to scum winning quite regularly and quite heavily, that when a game goes the opposite way (as comprehensively as this), it's natural to feel it pertains to balance.

Are those stats exclusive to Little Italy, Hoopla? Town seems to win more of my games than they lose—of the games I modded, they only lost Mini 716, Mini 830 (I think), Mini 1,011, and Go Play in Traffic! Scum has yet to win a multiball of mine, and the only StrangerCoug's Worst Nightmare game scum won is thanks to my practice of dealing with game-ruining mod errors (everyone that didn't legitimately lose before the error wins).

Yeah, exclusive to Little Italy. Towns do slightly better in set-ups other than 3:9, but generally this one is the hardest to win;

152 Closed 3:9 Games completed

96 Mafia Wins (63.2%)
54 Town Wins (35.5%)
2 Draws (1.3%)

This data is slightly old - there's been about 12-15 games I haven't fully catalogued yet, but it moves the mafia win rate up slightly. Here's another damning figure from around the same time-frame (a few weeks before the Normal Game Review Group started up);

Last 50 Closed 3:9 Games completed:

38 Mafia Wins (76%)
11 Town Wins (22%)
1 Draw (2%)

This correlates nicely with the rise in games with a Mafia Roleblocker (and sometimes an additional role) - it's just so easy to shut towns down when you have two ways to do it (killing and blocking). Most of these 3:9 set-ups have been the sort of thing people think are balanced, too. 1-2 mafia PR's against 3 strongish town PR's or 4 weak town PR's. But again, it's obvious that it's not balanced.

My Mini Normal was totally more awesome than most mini normals and just barely made it past the normal reviewer :P
Technically, the quality of each side's play is what determines wins and losses anyways, so I don't see why it should be chalked up to the setup alone.
