Why not vote one of the two that you are saying is scummy? There is nothing wrong with changing your vote. Its not unusual to change a vote five, ten or more times a day (depending on length of day and players in game).

Man, this game be really frustrating but I can also see why it is so fun.

My first vote I voted what two others voted, because I had no idea what to do or who to vote for. People were being silly and voting because of user names, so instead of making up a stupid reason I just said I didn't have one.

Then I get called out for it, so change my mind and voted for the person that voted first, thinking "hey they did not really have a reason either, and they voted pretty quickly with no reads on anyone." And I get called out for that vote now as well as accused of being coached by the person that was rude to me? lol

Because like I said, I think I would be an easy target for mafia to get lynched early. (smelled inexperience newbie with my first post and attacked) And his reasons for voting for me seem to make less and less sense. (Analyzing my use of the word definitely?)

This is a day start in a newbie game, I do not think you have access to a QT yet (QT is only open during night, right?) and I don't think you can PM each other during a day phase in a newbie game, correct?

He gave reasoning that was not random in post 25. If he was voting someone else randomly, he likely would have moved his vote to DP in that post. At that point it became non-random.

The quad-post just felt scummy to me, like he was panicking and not thinking, but then I looked over it a second time and two of the posts were useless for scum/town tells and the others weren't particarly scummy. And being snarky is a null tell even if it is kinda mean.

Yeah, he posted that while I was posting my vote, so I went ahead and posted then responded to it in the next post. To be honest, I first thought the suggestion that I was being coached by DP to be a joke (because of DP's attitude with me). So in my mind, it was still random.

Sorry, I guess I am acting a little defensive. It's my first game and I get a little miffed when people call me scum. I am just trying to explain everything I say, to clear up questions anyone may have.

Technically my vote did draw out some talking and possible tells: You are talking about it right now.

But yeah, you're actually right, I should be voting for someone else. I just didn't 'cause I was worried about lynching someone accidently since there are only 9 of us and very few votes are required to lynch. All the other games I've played have been like 22 people or little 10 person games where if you're town you want to off as many other town as possible before you win. (Makes for pretty quick games...)

In the one newbie game where I was scum (my first game here) we wern't allowed to talk during confirmation.. maybe it is mod discretion

Given that I have moderated about a dozen games here I will offer my insight.

Mafia are in all cases I have seen allowed to talk until the game begins, usually this is at least 48 hours. For the newer players, this normally takes place in a quicktopic, which is an offsite mini-forum type thing that is secret, and people can post to. This allows replacements to know what has been talked about. Mafia being able to daytalk is a very rare situation, and does not occur in newbie games from what I have ever seen before.

Sorry if I'm not really contributing anything at this point. D: These mafia games are hard to follow! Hopefully I'll get the gist of it before D2.

So far I think DP is just a jerk and doesn't mark me as being scum.

Tanstalas marks me as slightly scummy for tunneling DP right off the bat, seems a little too sure of his accusations.

Pinewolf marks me as more scummy because he started accusing BrentM for things that I really didn't think made sense. His reference in post 46 to how BrentM saying "definitely" was suspicious seemed a little bit of a leap to me, perhaps he is scum searching for an excuse to get a wagon going on a town member?

@Pinewolf: Please tell me your exact intentions with the "definitely" accusation. It being too strong a word just doesn't seem to be any evidence for anything.

My point:

Tanstalas accuses me of coaching my scum buddy on page 1.
I claim this is ridiculous because it's page 1 and I would have "coached" him during the ~48hour confirmation period you are talking about.

I'm aware daytalk isn't allowed. But there is typically time during pre-game to do necessary coaching. Buildling a case around coaching 2-3 posts into day phase is a ridiculous case and holds zero merit. The fact he is pushing my lynch based on this fault reasoning makes me find him scummy.


If you think your vote is useful where it is, leave it there. I've seen people put at L-1 (Lynch minus one vote, ie: 4 votes) on the first couple pages of day 1.

Generally, just make it known if you put someone at L-1 or L-2 if you do so early in the game. There is nothing wrong with doing it.

The thing is I'm sick and can't go anywhere out or do anything. I also don't have any movies here. So the only thing i can do is post here and lurk the internet. But nothing was happening here, so i decided to write that post as it was sure to generate some kind of discussion.
As far as i can tell it was successful. While i was sleeping you made a ton of posts. That is good. It gives me something to do, plus it moves things along. No discussion is boring and brings nothing to anyone. If anything it hides the scum better.

Mirror: A little nooby, but seems to have a good amount of common sense.

King: Can't really tell. Seems more nooby than scummy. Though it could be the other way around as well.

Llama: Mostly IC type posts, so could go either way.
