As soon as I hear the knock on the door, I whip around and for a second, I'm scared. However, after a second I realize that it's obviously not what I think it is.
Action: I grab any furniture and with the help of anyone who cares to help, I barricade the door, not to keep the zombies from getting in(right next to the door), but since they're going to get in anyways, I place it just around the door, so that once they get in, they have to climb over it/knock it over to get to us. However, I don't stack it high enough that I couldn't shoot the zombies still.

@ mod: out of curiosity, can I take another action in response to gandalfs, or no?

As far as I know, you can. I figure the order of actions will be the order in which they are posted. In any conflict arises, we'll probably use something like Natural Action Resolution Having a broken leg, illness, etc. could push you to the back of the list. In this case, yes your action can take place after gandalfs.

@Blackberry
Can you refrain from posting until further notice? You posting as a non-player is unfair to those on the waiting list, as they can't post either, while joining the game before you. I can put you on the waiting list if you want.

My train of thought disrupted by the sound of furniture scraping the floor, the vague recollection of someone knocking on the door hits me. I walk towards the door and ask Gandalf why he is blocking the door before he knows who is outside. I call out
Who is it?


Talking doesn't count as an action. You can do something in addition to asking gandalf and calling "who is it."

Can I wait for an answer before I decide if opening the door is a good idea or not?
Yes, you can. Read Packbat's post below


If human voice responds, ask if any zombies are nearby. If voice says that there are no zombies nearby, go to gandalf, ask him to be ready in case of trouble, and quickly open the door and peek outside. If zombies can get inside before the person outside can, shut and lock door quickly. If voice says that there are zombies close, shout an apology and don't open the door.
If no response, don't open the door.

An actual person would have no trouble getting over the furniture. The zombies would because everyone knows that zombies are incapable of climbing unless they stack on top of each other. Like, zombies can't even climb ladders.

Turn Resolution


Xalxe: 4


Xalxe glides to a nearby shelf and picks up a handle (1.75 L) of single-malt whiskey. He then looks around for all exits out of the liquor store, observing:
  • Two public entrances side-by-side in the front, separated by a display case;
  • A "Staff Only" door leading to the rear loading dock, locked shut; and
  • A hatch to the roof, locked shut.
gandalf5166: 2


"Crap, they're here!" mutters gandalf5166. He quickly grabs hold of one of the empty racks that held chips and starts pushing it towards the door to make a section of barricade.

...which turns out to be pretty slow going.

Event: there is now an empty snacks rack sitting halfway down the aisle from the back of the store, with a gandalf5166 behind it pushing and swearing.


chesskid3: 1


chesskid3 walks right past gandalf's useless barricade and calls out, "Who is it?" to the unknown figure knocking on the door.

"I'm a doctor! Please, let me in!"

Peering through the glass and not immediately seeing a mob of zombies, chesskid3 starts tugging on the door, which is oddly stiff for some reason ... until it springs open with a jerk, straight into chesskid3's face.

chesskid3 now has
a black eye
.


Event: the front door is now open.


jmj3000: 1


As jmj3000 hunts behind the counter, he finds a nice big bear-trap. With his hand. Much screaming follows.

jmj3000 is now carrying
a sprung bear-trap
(worn on right wrist). He will be at -1 for any tasks requiring manual dexterity until 2 turns after it has been removed.


drmyshottyizsik: 1


drmyshottyizsik, inspired by a sudden thirst, proceeds directly to the vodka aisle, where he reaches up to pull a bottle of red-label Stolichnaya vodka off the top shelf - just in time to be distracted by jmj3000's bloodcurdling scream. He loses control of the bottle, which shatters on the floor at his feet, creating a large pool full of broken glass. Which he then loses his footing in.

drmyshottizsik is now carrying
several pieces of broken glass
(worn on left buttock). He will be at -1 for any tasks involving sitting until 2 turns after they have been removed.


Reecer6


Reecer6 does nothing. Which is just as well, really.




As chesskid3 staggers back from the door, another figure staggers in. He slams the door behind him, then slumps to the floor, dropping a large medicine case he was carrying next to him. With the various survivors watching carefully from their separate positions, he speaks.

"I found ... the cure," he says, haltingly. "It's ... one injection, and it ... halts the infection. It ...
works
... I was bit, and I started feeling sick, but I got
better!
...where was I?"

He sways, briefly, then falls sideways to the floor.

"I got better ... but I got bit again ... and I had to take another dose ... I don't think ... I'm getting ... better ... again ..."

Event: the doctor has died, blocking the door.


Event: the
case of cure vials
is now sitting in the room.
12 doses remain.





Spoiler: Action List: Turn 2
1. Xalxe: Pick the lock on the STAFF ONLY door.


2. gandalf5166: Pick up the doctor, take him out back and put him under something heavy. Hopefully with some help.


3. chesskid3: Go pick up and inspect the cure vials.


4. jmj3000: Attempt to remove the bear trap.


5. drmyshottyizsik: Lock Gand and the Doc outside.


6. Reecer6: Find a mop or broom to use as a weapon.
