dysorder: I agree, a higher posting frequency (without sacrificing content) gives the game more dynamics and just makes more fun. I’m so-so about walls of text, I sometimes tend to write such posts myself… but they sure are a strain to read, even if done well. This is why I kind of liked GMan’s and Nachomamma8’s approaches, they are able to boild down their content to one or two small paragraphs.
Kcdaspot: I don’t think you suck at being mafia. If this damned bandwagon had not been, I think all of us had viewed you in a wholly different way.
By the way, Kcdaspot and Mist7676: As I read in your scum quicktopic, you actually decided on who to go for beforehand. Isn’t this rather inflexible gameplay? I’ve been scum only once so far and we basically talked about night choices and agreed on our general behaviour but we didn’t set up a “plan”… I found that approach quite good.-

Funny thing about site meta these days, is that more often than not you'll find scum ON the scum lynch rather than off it. Town cred is one of those things scum are desperate for, and they like to argue about how they were on the scum wagon rather than explaining why they weren't.inspiratieloos wrote:What I did find interesting is that most people thought I was town... I was kind of expecting getting lynched D3, because I was on the wrong end of both the D1 and D2 lynch. I was really worrying about how I should defend myself against that and then found out that no one was accusing me-

I disagree, something I have noticed in almost every game I've played on site (At LEAST every Newbie game I've played) Is that the scum tend to procrastinate when they get pressure put on them, or they make excuses as to their absences...all of the sudden *real life* takes over, but they don't just replace out. (Remember Neil in our first newbie game KC?) I've started to notice it more and more and I've even noticed myself doing it as scum. I end up making excuses as to why I haven't answered. So it's something that really sticks out at me.Kcdaspot wrote:if mist just hung back more i think we'd have a shot.
oh well.
i suck so hard as scum.
At the end Mist kind of just disappeared and never really tried to make a case for herself, that's part of the reason I was so sure she was your buddy.-

Stefunny: In general, I agree with your view. Still, taken for itself, lurking and excuses aren’t scum tells per se. It happened a few times to myself that I’ve been drawn into real life while I was playing a game as a townie. I wrote excuses of course, I don’t want to be rude after all. Yet no one found me scummy for this and I’m grateful for that.
inspiratieloos: You staying off the Day 2 bandwagon indeed looked a bit strange to me… Kcdaspot drove into the dead end (no pun intended) and still you weren’t very sure what to think about him. As I stated above, I tend(ed) to see this as newbie-town uncertainty rather than as a scum tell; after all, you were about to gain momentum on the case right before Mist7676’s hammer. I think in general you did a good townie job, this is why you came up quite townie to us.
Zachrulez: I like this WIFOM metagaming approach somehow. I’ll certainly remember this once I play scum again.-

Well, of course I've gotten busy/distracted from a game as well. I'm just saying when under pressure scum tend to all of the sudden come up with reasons why they don't have time to defend themselves. Especially in newbie games.
I understand real circumstances happen. Life does come first, it just seems more convenient for some then others...-
