Mini 166: Dodecamafia - Game over!

They say that tabletop gaming is dead; instead of D&D, it's MMORPGs. Instead of Scrabble, it's http://www.scrabble.com. Instead of Mafia, it's https://www.mafiascum.net. They might be right, but that doesn't stop the die-hard players from trying to roll a "20" and bring back the glory days.

Which is why you're here today: Your LAN party has been crashed by some unsavory, socially maladjusted Luddites who want to bury you under a hex grid and loot your corpse for magic items. Are you going to let them spoil your slightly less unsavory, slightly less socially maladjusted fun? Unfortunately your gaming group meets at an apartment complex in California, so there will be rolling blackouts between the times you get to chase somebody out of the group; your computers will survive by virtue of backup power systems, but you might not. Try to use the time while the lights are on to the fullest, before it's too late.

Game Over. Town wins!

Rules
(stolen from Werebear, who isn't around to defend them):
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose a deadline. If discussion picks up, the deadline will be rescinded. The last part only happens once.
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted. Unvotes are polite but not strictly required.
  • Once a player has reached the necessary majority to lynch, the day is over. Unvoting them will not save their life. You may talk until the night scene is posted.
  • No lynches
are allowed, they require the same number of votes as a lynch.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless you are told you may do so explicitly in your role PM.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you're dead. Please, no posting ideas or theories. You may make one post, in a bad "medieval" accent, with no additional game information.
  • Don't edit/delete previously submitted posts. The dice don't lie; you must accept the first roll. Post again and correct it if you feel the need.
  • Don't quote your role PM in thread.
  • Night will last about 72 hours. The first time you miss a deadline, no choice will be made. The second time, someone from your side will die. It might be you.
  • If you're going to be gone a significant amount of time, let everyone know out of courtesy.
  • Mod = DM = GM = God. And we all know what happens when God is proven wrong, right? That's right, the universe packs up its bags and goes home. Let me know, however, if you think your eyes might be seeing things that appear to be errors.
  • The Mod works in mysterious ways. Don't assume to know the will of Mod.
  • Whether you're playing with dice or a LAN connection, it's a game. Have fun, don't be a complete jerk to each other, etc.

Just as you all get together for your regular gaming session, the lights go out. It's California; you're used to that. What you're not used to are all the new faces in your group; some of them you've never seen before.

Might as well kick back and relax until the lights come back on, unless you've got something better to amuse yourself with. Just as the lights flicker out, you hear the soft plastic sound of dice rolling across the floor...
Original Roll String: 12d12 (STATIC)
12 12-Sided Dice: (1, 8, 3, 6, 10, 2, 10, 5, 3, 5, 7, 2) = 62

That's quaint. People who actually game with dice and pen and paper instead of Radeon 5000SX video cards and Pentium VI processors. You wonder why they're here in the first place...

It is now night. Please get your choices in by Wednesday, March 9th at 11:59pm.

Just as the lights come back on, you hear a *crackle*sizzle* from somewhere in the room. Upon further investigation, Coron discovers that his computer screen has been stabbed repeatedly with a Swiss Army knife. His medical training will be of no help on this one; he packs up his things in a neat fashion and leaves the apartment.

Coron - an Orderly Orderly, has been disconnected from the gaming session.

It would appear that someone in your new group doesn't like computer gaming as much as you thought. Now your job is to figure out who, and force them out so you can get back to what you were doing,
i.e.
fragging monsters and each other.

It is now Day One.
With 11 around, it will take 6 to lynch.

Hmm, one death probably means either one group of scum, or a lucky doc. Either of which is a good thing. Except that it appears the doc is dead. So that's a bad thing.

It sounds as if a Doc is dead, since the death scene mentions medical training. One idea we might want to pay around with is if those dice rolling has anything to do with anybody's role. It sure doesn't help mine. (Why else would I be speculating that?)

Interesting point, 12 players, 12 rolls... perhaps they correspond?

Anyone remember where Coron was exactly on the list before it was edited?

Nope...

If we only have one doc we could be in trouble now.. if we have another one, stay low, we don't need another dead doc ;)

In the queue thread, Mr. Flay said something about 12 players, 12 sides on a die. And I'm pretty sure the dice string didn't have a 12 in it before the blackout ended, although the stated total remains the same.

Maybe if there's an Orderly Orderly, there's a DisOrderly one who acts like a faith healer or something?

Did it change? I do remember a 12.

That's not a complaint, just an observation.

Two people qualifies as everyone?

That's rather paranoid, don't you think?

No. I just notice votes on me more than any others. Including my own.
If anybody has a role based on the dice role, please just say that you have a role based on the roll and which number in the string is yours, but not a full roleclaim. This can also help us find where Coron was on the list if no one remembers.
Obviously, mine doesn't involve the dice.

That string was made by using the board's dice rolling function. Flay can't change it or determine what numbers are in it.

Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2005 2:03 pm
by Iammars
That's the point. My guess is that someone's role depends on the
outcome
of the dice.
