General rules:

1. Have fun.
2. Play to win.
3. No flaming. You don't have to be perfectly nice, but let's not have any personal attacks.
4. No talking about the game outside the game topic, unless if your role allows you (Mafia), and THEN only during the Afternoon Phase at the QuickTopic I give you. No talking about other ongoing games in this game topic, either. Talking about completed games is fine if it's relevant.
5. Do not play this game under more than one account name. This includes any shenanigans such as replacing yourself with an alt, or anything like that.
6. There is no rule 6.
7. Don't edit your posts, if you can.
8. Don't use invisible/tiny text.
9. If you have any questions about the setup/rules/etc., ask by either posting it in bold, or by PMing me.
10. I don't make mistakes. If you think I've made a mistake, such as in a vote count, tell me, so I can prove that you're wrong. :P
11. Prods will only be done on request. If it's been at least 48 hours since someone has posted, you may post
Mod: Please prod Lurky McLurker
if you wish. I will monitor activity by sending a massprod during every Afternoon phase (see below), just to make sure everyone is still around. If you will be missing during an Afternoon phase, send me a notice in advance, and you may stay in the game as long as you won't be absent for the entire Evening phase.
12. Just to note, the expression "V/LA" will have no official context in this game, and should not carry any more weight than any other statement you make.

Special rules:

1. The goal of this game is to elect at least 3 of your faction (Town or Mafia) into the City Council. The game will end once either the 3rd townie or the 3rd mafia member is elected.

2. Each game Day, 2 players will campaign for a spot in the City Council. One will always be Town, and one will always be Mafia. At the end of the day, both the winner and the loser of the election will leave the game.

3. Each Day will be divided into 3 phases:

a.
Morning

1. During the Morning phase, one player may volunteer to join the election for that Day.
2. To do this, just type
Join Campaign
in bold.
3. The Morning phase will end after one player has done this.
4. Each Morning will have a deadline of
one real-life week
. If nobody volunteers by the deadline, then the Mafia may choose both candidates for that Day's election. (See Afternoon below)

b.
Afternoon

1. During the Afternoon phase, the thread will be locked. This is the ONLY time that the mafia may talk to each other outside of the thread.
2. Since there will always be 2 players competing in each election, the Afternoon phase is when the Mafia choose the 2nd candidate, to oppose the player that volunteered during the previous Morning phase.
3. The 2nd candidate must be of an
opposite
alignment to the volunteer candidate. That is, if the volunteer was Town, then the Mafia must choose one of their own to join the election. If the volunteer was Mafia, then the Mafia must choose a townie to oppose them.
4. Each Afternoon will have a deadline of
72 hours
.

c.
Evening

1. The evening is when the election will be held between the volunteer from the
Morning
phase and the other candidate chosen in the
Afternoon
phase.
2. All of the other players will vote between the candidates, choosing which one they want to elect.
3. To vote, type
Vote: Crazy
or VOTE: Crazy. To change your vote, just vote for the other candidate.
4. The first candidate to receive a majority of votes will be elected to the City Council. The loser will be killed. Alignments of both will be revealed, and BOTH will exit the game.
5. Each Evening will have a deadline of
one real-life week
. This will only be extended if a replacement is needed.

6 Townies received wrote:You are a Townie!

You need to stop the Mafia from taking over your town! Time to lynch some scum, right?

No. You're going towards a more civilized community, so instead you will try to elect your fellow townspeople into City Council positions.

If you think you have what it takes, type
Enter Campaign
in bold during any
Morning
phase, and you will join the election. If not, then your goal is to elect your fellow townspeople during the
Evening
phase.

You win when at least 3 of the 5 positions in the City Council are filled with townies.

5 Mafia received wrote:You are part of the Mafia!

Your Mafia consists of AAAA, BBBB, CCCC, DDDD, and EEEE.

Since the town is going with this whole "City Council" thing, you'll have to play along, and try to trick them into electing you and your fellow Mafia members.

During each
Morning
phase, you may choose to join the current election by typing
Enter Campaign
in bold.

During each
Afternoon
phase, you may talk with your fellow Mafia members here. During this time, you must choose someone to oppose the player who volunteered during the
Morning
phase. The player you choose must be of a different alignment than the player who volunteered. For instance, if a townie joined the Campaign in the morning phase, then you all must decide on a Mafia member to run against them.

During the
Evening
phase, you may vote to elect, along with the rest of the town.

You win when at least 3 of the 5 positions in the City Council are filled with members of the Mafia.

Maruchan did exactly the same thing -- forcing the pace of the game and costing town information -- as scum in Newbie 1122.

stupid, maybe

ending the day 2 minutes after it stars, I don't see how this is forced. O.o Besides, wouldn't it be in the better interests of the mafia to wait the full day-cycle before choosing which mafia player represents them? that way they can see who is the most town-looking mafia in the town's eyes, and make sure they are the elected party.

Why would the mafia want to not see how the public opinion is in reaction to them before volunteering?

(Sorry Crazy about being an idiot and thinking it had been 4 fays when ti was really only 3. teehee)

This was what sounded forced to me:

This also applies to the town?

now now, before we get all "THIS IS MARUCHANS META AS SCUM", why don't you wait to see how I play as town? I play the same way as scum as I do as town.

Besides, I figured that this would be costing the mafia more than it would the town. the mafia has to find which of their members is more towny looking in the towns eye. If they don't know how everyone looks in the town's eye, they can't chose the townier one.

Although now that I look back, I pretty much gave the town the win on a silver platter because timeater can not post a single word and he is still more likely to win.

I hope Crazy hosts another of these, so that we can learn strategy as we go along.

Quiliford wrote:Maruchan, how did you realise the thread was open?

Yes. I volunteered before I read my PM. therefore, my volunteering should not be conducive of my alignment. I had no idea my alignment when I volunteered. I had had this thread in an open tab since the day it was made, and refreshed it every 40 minutes for 12-14 hours a day. And have done the same since. I immediately saw the game was open and volunteered, THEN checked my PMs.

PEdit: I already answered your question I guess

Yeah, but it's costing the town information-- if the morning had been longer than one post, maybe I would have a read, or at least have some idea who I'd prefer to vote for. And now all there is to go on is that the morning lasted one post because of you.

VOTE: Timeater.

The hammer was #645. L-1 was #629 if you want context.

Oh, and Maruchan pulled a similar ignorance gambit by talking about quicktopics roundabout #201.

not so, as, sicnethis is a new game mechanic I have never seen before, it could be seen as scummy to volunteer when looking townie, as the scum are allowed to volunteer just as much as the town are.

But since the scum are the informed minority, it makes all reads and tells more helpful to them, as they know the alignments, and we do not.

All townie PMs were sent at 57 minutes after the hour.

(I don't want people confirmed or not based on something like that.)
