Welcome to
Newbie 150: Berry Village Mafia!

Status:
Game Over

History Of The Berry Kingdom:

In a far off land, where berries roamed, a war was taking place. In the past, the berries had all gotten along. They were friendly and kept their distance from berries different than themselves. But peace could not be kept for long. King Blackberry of the Blackberry Kingdom was fighting a war with the Cherries. The evil Queen Cherry had become greedy and attempted to attack the Blackberries in hopes of taking over their kingdom. But her attempt had failed, the Blackberries, along with their allies, had defeated her nasty Cherry army. Luckily for Queen Cherry, she avoided capture before her kingdom had collapsed.

Now, Queen Cherry has plotted her revenge. She has begun to sneak her evil Cherries into the Blackberry Villages and murder them one-by-one. King Blackberry knew she would make such a vicious attempt, so he called upon his allies once more for aid. He called upon the Blueberries, King Blackberry’s oldest ally. The Blueberries were known for their extensive caring, they had mastered a magical blessing to heal wounded and damaged berries. King Blackberry also called upon the Strawberries, known for their high instinct and ability to discover their true enemies.

The war continues in

We have no information on what's what, so we'd probably lynch a townie or even a doctor or cop or something. And I don't want to be the one who ends up starting a vote that loses us the game.

Another newbie game... another discussion about no lynch.

DS... In a game with this setup a 'no lynch' is generally accepted to be a bad idea. To vote 'no lynch' means that we wake up tomorrow in the same situation with only 4 townspeople and 2 mafia, which leaves us worse off than today.

It's unlikely that we'll lynch a doctor or a cop - because most people will roleclaim before they're lynched. Then the worst that can happen is that we could give mafia information on who to kill tonight.

Lynching is the only weapon that we have against mafia, and if we fail to use it, they'll pick us off one by one. [/stock response]

to me, a vote for no lynch seems scummy, so
fos:Deathsquiggle

however, i dont think we should lynch him this early, we should get more info
if we're wrong, we lynch right or lose tomorrow

That is the stock response, but it 's not always the correct one. There are times where no-lynch is a good idea - for example, an 8-man game with 2 scum - or where the idea is a bit more neutral - like in some end-game scenarios. However, it's a bad idea here.

To elaborate, 4 townies and 2 mafia is what's known as "lynch or lose" - if we lynch town, then overnight another townie dies (unless the doc successfully protects). This is actually worse than a three-town, two-scum situation - as either way we have to lynch scum for the rest of the game, but with fewer players around, we have a better chance of hitting them.

Not totally comfortable with voting a newbie for not knowing that, though.

He must have known enough about no lynch to mention it though .. I mean maybe I was just a naive noob, but I don't recall even knowing what no lynch was when I first started mafia, or at least didn't think about it as a strategy of any sorts ..

Well, I read the wiki so I know what the different votes are, but I've never played before. I guess I'll
unvote
the no lynch and wait for more talking to go on so I can learn something.
