Is this type of thing common? I'm still pretty new over here. If that happened at fbg's we'd just consider it a joke. If there has been a precedent for a role that communicates via the mod I might change my mind.Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.

I can't say the role is common, but it has been used. Of course not in such a blatant matter. Since it is so forward, I would find it more likely to be scum then town in all honesty.SSB! wrote:Is this type of thing common? I'm still pretty new over here. Hi, Peacebringer. For now, I'll ask Thoth to come up with reasons why I should be voting for him, and I'd like him to respond to those.

Ok, so according to you, the supposed scum, the announcement is not to be believed. This you base on a metagaming argument, that such roles are improbable. Ok, I accept that, but whats wrong in checking it?? Worst case we lynch a protown. If you claim powerrole, I ll reconsider voting you.Yes. I've seen roles like this before. It seems highly unlikely to me that we just get handed scum from the sky. I'm against lynching people that I feel aren't likely to be scum. Peacebringer and BabyJ know how I feel about the "oh well, it's not a power role" excuse.
Vis Major was a pure random vote from me though. Random.org spit out number 14. Nothing I've seen or he's said makes me think he's less likely than random to be scum. The game event of that announcement does make me hedge towards Baby J being less likely than random of being scum. I don't like the BabyJ votes.Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.

That, or maybe someone is a cop who has to announce their results like this. Almost everyone is equal in my eyes, but BJ is alittle higher because of that. Maybe not today, but if we find evidence later that the voice is reliable, then we could start putting the pressure on."Rolefishing is fishing for someones role. It's called fishing because it requires subtlety. When you grab a shotgun and start firing into the water, thats not fishing." - IH-

If its only random, could you be so kind and get off your random vote off my bandwagon? Id appreciate that
I dont think scum making the Omnipotent Lord Mod, ruler of everything thisgame, tell us a lie goes well. It would be the stupid, flavor wise. Also, everybody just say "it seems unlikely that its that easy". Exactly that is the reason we have to check it."logic is in the eye of the beholder" -LyingBrian in Eyewitness 1

Somebody is going to get bandwagoned today. That's just a fact. That's the nature of the game.
Tyfo- i think everybody is a "possible" townie.
I don't mind testing the babyj thing. Don't think we'll end up getting any definitive answers from it though. If he comes up gg does that mean that type of announcement could never be a bg later on? I think not. If he comes up bg does that guarantee those announcements will always be accurate? I think not.
I'd rather just hedge my bets for now and keep a close eye on Babyj. I'm betting the announcement more than likely is in-accurate or irrelevant. If it's innacurate babyj is a terrible lynch choice. If it's irrelevant he's no better than a random lynch choice. Just doesn't seem like a productive place to be going at this point in time.Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.

What if there is no doc? However, a cop that can remain unclaimed and give results sounds too strong.
You mean 1 false lynch at most.i think more that it would be a scummy ability......good way to trick townies into some false lynches"logic is in the eye of the beholder" -LyingBrian in Eyewitness 1

I think it would be a mistake to make a blanket assumption no matter what the babj result is if we lynch him.VisMaior wrote:

Who says this isn't a bg role where they can send out varying info.? Maybe they sent out BabyJ as a bg this time when he's really a gg. We lynch him and then the next guy they send out and call a bg actually is a bg?
We aren't going to get any conclusive evidence on what these announcements mean from a lynch of BabyJ today. Anybody who wants to lynch him and then make a blanket presumption on exactly what the mod voice means is somewhere between off-base and scummy to me.Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? We don't know jack about the voice, and i definatly don't know if it's good enough to base a lynch on.
And lynching is not a good way to find out if we SHOULD lynch.

I don't think the voice from above should be trusted. But since there is the odd chance that the message could be from a cop, it does give BabyJesus a slightly higher chance of being scum than anyone else, making him the 'correct' lynch today. This would also make us certain whether or not to believe similar announcements in the future.
That being said, I've never seen a pro-town role making such statements anonymously before, and BJ does have (or at least did have) a reputation of being 'an easy day one lynch', which is why scum would be more likely to target him with such a role than anyone else. And so I'm not ready to test the validity of these accusations against BJ just yet.
If it were any other player, I'd probably vote for him, but feeling that I owe BJ one after he was in the exact same situation day 1 in Bizarre mafia, I say we keep him around. I don't allow my feelings to take control over logics very often, but in this case I'll make an exception.

I think the fact that we've seen this before, and that it has been proven to be patently false IS logic.Astronaut wrote: If it were any other player, I'd probably vote for him, but feeling that I owe BJ one after he was in the exact same situation day 1 in Bizarre mafia, I say we keep him around. I think saying we could be "certain" that the voice will always be right just because it is right today is making quite a leap.
That voice could be any number of things. It could come up with strictly random information for all we know. Basing the validity of that voice on one instance makes little sense to me and could be a very dangerous road to go down if it starts getting used to "confirm" people.
Also, I don't see how the "babyd has a slightly higher chance" logic holds up. If this is an ACCURATE view from a good source he's for sure scum. If it's an INNACURATE view from a good source . It could also be a scum tool or it could simply be a random element. I don't see how it increases babyj's chance of being scum. He's scum or he's not, but that voice, which we know little about, doesn't change the % any imho because we have no idea what kind of information is being fed to us.
I think the best course of action is to wait for later in the game and see if more information comes out regarding this source. I don't think making a d1 decision based on the little we have in that area is wise.
If you guys do decide to do that please don't leap to huge conclusions. Thinking in absolutes in this game is a terrible mistake.Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
