Mini 380: Artifacts- Game over

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:18 am

Post by Norinel »

Mini 380: Artifacts
There are a very few arts where to take life is to take power. I can't imagine why the objects of one of them would converge here and now, but once I knew they had I could tell the storm was coming.

Status: The game is over.

Voyaging (5/12):

DogMom (Replacing GreenLiquid)
Apeiron (Replacing Jules)
ShadowLurker (Replacing lunalovegood)
Nai
Zindaras

Buried (7/12):

neongrey (Townie) - stabbed Night 1
HackerHuck (SK) - lynched Day 1
Bogre (Replacing CrashTextDummie (Replacing conflux)) (Townie) - lynched Day 2
Nightfall (Townie) - stabbed Night 3
Machiavellian-Mafia (Replacing Stewie) (Townie) - choked? Night 3
Kelly Chen (Replacing perfect62834) (Mafia) - burned? Night 3
Coron (Townie) - stabbed Night 4

Lost artifacts (7):

Dreamcatcher (Reverse tracker)
You may focus on one player, yourself or another, and have visions of how others act towards them (target, in game terms).

Healing salves (Doctor)
Any number of times per player, you may try to heal one of your companions if ill should befall them. Though they may be used any number of times by a single player, they will be exhausted and disappear if they successfully heal twice.

The Hands of the Diviner (? receiver)
There is no clear way to activate them; they clutch cards that tell of prophecies and omens.

The Badge of Courage (Vote-doubler)
You may invoke the badge to allow your vote to count double the following day; at the beginning of the day, it will be announced that your vote counts double, but not why.

An empty glass bottle (?)
?

Mystical Clay (Artifact copier)
Once in the game, you may form the Clay into a duplicate of any other item usable once per player in your possession. The duplicate functions exactly as the original, but can only be used once before it breaks.

The Feather of Pegamel (Flying pumpkin)
Once in the game, you may use it to summon the great flying camel that shoots laser beams out of its ass of legend to judge one other player. Should Pegamel find that player's heart untrue, he shall rain down his judgment the following night, killing the player in question.

Special rules:

This game contains several artifacts (items); I'll explain here how they work in general, but the description of individual artifacts can override this default explanation, though. Unless an artifact's description states otherwise, using it is a night action. If the description starts with "You may" means each
player
may use that artifact once. If it starts with "Once in the game, you may", that's once for the
artifact
for the entire game; once it's been used, the artifact either becomes useless or disappears.

Everyone's night action comes in up to three parts, which is also roughly the order night actions resolve in. You may use any, none, or all of the ones at your disposal:
1. You may use the ability of
one
artifact in your possession.
2. If your role has a special ability, you may use it.
3. You may give
none, some, or all
of your artifacts to other players. There's no particular restriction on who you give them to; if you're giving away more than one, you can give them to the same or different people.

When a player dies, the artifacts in their possession at the time lose their power and are destroyed, and are revealed and have their powers explained. If you die at night, the artifacts you had at the beginning of the night are destroyed.

The townie with artifact role PM looks like this:
You are but a traveler with a trinket: you have no special abilities, but you do have
(item name)
. (item abilities).

You win when the evils are gone. Confirm and send your Night 1 action(s) by PM.
The townie without artifact role PM looks like this:
You are but a traveler, with nothing beyond yourself to bring to the journey.

You win when the evils are gone. Confirm and send your Night 1 action(s) by PM.
General rules:

Standard rules apply, with the following exceptions/extensions:

Notify me (Don't just post in the vacation thread, post here or pm me) if you're going to be unavailable for more than 48 hours. Commitment to 12 other people, blah blah blah. 96 hours without a post (Or a good reason to be gone) will get you prodded, 48 hours without a reply will get you replaced.

Private messaging is the preferred method of communication with the moderator for night choices, questions, and the like. If it appears there's a problem, pm me. There may not be.

Players whose choices I do not receive by the end of the night will be considered to take no action, unless they must perform some action, in which case the target for any and all required actions will be chosen at random.

One may vote: no lynch, and a majority of such votes will end the day without lynching.

When a day deadline is reached, the person with the most votes is lynched if they have at least half of the required votes. If there are multiple people with the same number of votes at a deadline, the one who reached that number first is lynched. If no one has half the majority, no one is lynched.

I love it when players keep me in the loop regarding their Night discussion. (When allowed by roles, of course) Please CC me on PMs (The easiest way to do this in most browsers is to hit back to go back to the PM form and change the name to me) and e-mails, send me IM logs, link me to private forums, whatever.

Modkilling during the day takes the place of a lynch unless I feel the modkillee would gain an advantage by doing so.

If four periods (nights or days) pass with no deaths whatsoever, the game will be declared a tie among all sides with one or more surviving players unless there is some reason for me to do otherwise.

If I change any of these rules (Or the standard rules) at any time, I'll announce it. Anything rules-related I say after making this post, publicly or privately, takes precedence over this post.

Prologue:

It is hot. The journey continues.

Today was a special day. We passed the last point where we could turn back and have supplies to make it. There's nothing left to do but press on.

It might have been that, it might've been the heat, it may have been something else entirely, but I saw more... heated words today. Whispers, arguments, emotions. Maybe fear.

Is there something here to be afraid of?

Roles are out. It is Night 1, confirm and send night choices by PM.

A few clarifications based on things I've been PMed:

If you're not using all or part of an action you could take (Using an artifact in your possession that you can use, using any role-specific ability, giving away any of your artifacts to other players), please say so explicitly.

When you receive an artifact, you'll be told what it is and what it does, but not who it came from.

Night 1:

The one they called neongrey is dead. Stabbed in his tent. I think some of them care. I think some of them expected it.

I don't think they noticed a strange thing hanging above his body. A looped twig, some threads, some beads. Did it mean something to him? Does it mean something to them?

Even as we get ready to continue, they're talking again. About him, I think. To what end?

neongrey (Townie) - stabbed Night 1. The Dreamcatcher (Reverse tracker) has been lost; there's a full description in the front post.

It is now Day 1, 11 alive means 6 to lynch.

Vote: Nightfall
isn't it too early in the game for you to start trying to distance from Nai, your scum partner? It's not really good plausible denyability if it's an FoS this early.

Aw, bah. This game looked neat. Go town.
ne*on*grey n.
1. an impossible colour
2. frequently misspelled online alias; only capitalized at the beginning of a sentence with no internal capitalizations and has absolutely no As anywhere in it.
3. definitely a female

What I meant was all three mafia, my bad. In a mini it is usually fairly safe to assume 3 mafia, though there are some corner cases that have 2 sets of 2 or mountainous with just 2.
