I was thinking over this game, and I've posted something else elsewhere, but I think the scum were screwed up mainly due to my replacing in. Mainly because SV1 strongly believed pablito was doc, compared to SV (CTD). So I'm not too sure we deserve this.pablito wrote:I think that newbie 280, if it's nominated for anything, should be nominated for Best Town Performance - for the five townies and their replacements. It was the town and its diligence that made newbie 280 enjoyable. Also scum were good, but they didn't win, so therefore the only category that fits is best town performance.

Do we really need Scummies? Does it really matter who is the "best" player or what was the "best" game? Why do we have to decide things like this. Can't players just have fun and be proud of their performances or games and not have to worry about being judged? I say get rid of these.Unban me please
At the very least, at least respond to my unanswered PMs mith.-

Seriously speaking, do you think the judges have time to read everything? If you're outstanding, you get nominated, then the judges will read it. So you don't have to worry about being judged for every game.
Scummies are a way to reward people for their performance.
I'm going to take offense at the rigging jury comment. I'd say we were completely impartial. Those nominated could not vote for themselves. Also, do you have any idea how long I spent reading all the nominated games? Try reading a 61 page game multiple times, and that's just one of them.Blank.-

It's not a perfect system, but does it have to be?
This is only partly about recognition and fame. It's also about the awards ceremony (which is hilarious). It's also about going and checking out those nominations and laughing at them (I just did at DGB's claim there).ShowFinished: 159 (120 Town, 33 Mafia, 5 Other, 1 Cult, 4 Cultivated)

Nominate: DrippingGoofball, ShadowLurker, Jules, Mastermind of Sin
Award: Best Performance - Mafia
Game: Yakuza Mafia 55
Note: I know it's a self-nomination, but I'm doing it because I really feel that DGB and SL deserve it in particular, since the town thought they had the game wrapped up.Permanent V/LA.-

MoS: I disagree with that one, due to balance issues. (Yes, I played in it too.)
Here's what the mod had to say:Save The Dragons wrote:I admit, this made the GF overpowered, but I don't think the Gunsmith has to conform to normal conventions. Also, the gunsmith is kinda sketchy as an investigative role. My intent was to make this game very townie, but in hindsight I should have taken away the immunity or given one less goon or something. I'm still learning as a mod.Blank.-

I think that a Godfather that kills with a katana SHOULDN'T be found by a gunsmith, especially since the godfather was supposed to be immune to investigation roles. The game wasn't that imbalanced, but the town didn't think things through enough. They should've lynched ShadowLurker before lynching TSQ/StallingChamp. With 2 scum dead, they should've expected 2 scum remaining. With 2 enablers, 1 gunsmith, and 2 masons, and one mason having expressed doubt of the other's alignment, you should've realized that if the gunsmith or the mason he "cleared" was scum, the "scummason" was still going to be scum. This would've given the town a much better chance. I am also surprised that the town failed to realize that a Yakuza (if I recall correctly) is something similar to the Crazy 88's in Kill Bill, and therefore it would make sense for some of them to kill with swords. I believe the game was balanced enough that it still took good maneuvering by the scum to pull off a win.Permanent V/LA.-

What do you mean???
I really thought that LOSER claim would get you all eating out of my hands! I was SERIOUS!!! No joke!
My favorite mafia adventure was to get myself lynched in 2 pages in a replacement. Twomz was at lynch -1, 10/11 votes. Thanks to Glork's gullibility, I was able to accomplish my Kamikaze mission IN ONLY SEVENTEEN POSTS!!! Take that, Twomz! So I must nominate myself for MOST FLAMBOYANT SELF-DESTRUCTIVE ARTIST for that one.
Here are some nominations I'd like to weigh in to.
* The Oscar for Best Performance - Mafia
MBL's performance in Himalayan Mafia Flay got himself lynched Day 6, and he was left all alone to eliminate the town, which he did with panache and oozing towniness, beating all odds.
* The best mafia catcher - "Paragon of Mafia Hunters award" -
Glork & Hez ex aequo
* Most Enjoyable Game Mini [theme/regular]
