@Peter- I'd seen that as well, but I thought I'd be assuming too much- Sheriff's have deputies after all, don't they?

We might not be "power"-less, but we also might be safer not relying on any help in that way (cirlcular, obvious, why even say it, etc :P)

Either way, It is important to point out. I think in conjunction with the "Generic" part of the game title makes it fairly obvious that there are no roles. I would feel pretty mislead if there were in fact power roles.

I ment the night kill post as more of a joke, not serious. Honestly, I only said that cause his posts seem so pro town, but with other posts saying too town is scum, it makes me look dumb.

And regarding the post about me sitting back, it's only been about 24 hours, calm down, i have shit to do in RL.

In the very first post in this thread, Sefer wrote:The members of the town rush out of the local saloon to see that the local sheriff and doctor have both been gunned down.
To me, this suggests no power roles. That gives the Scum incredible freedom to make accusations, form false bonds with town players, and in general post without fear of being busted by a cop. It also puts a lot of pressure on the town during end-game, as all we will have to go on is voting record and posting. This also allows scum to target whoever they want.

Without a doctor, It is highly likely that pro-town players, as well as players who are correctly picking out scum, will be targeted for night kills.

-Peter
Even if the sheriff and the doctor are dead, we may have other power roles. Also, there may be backup roles for the sheriff/doctor. I guess we will have to wait to see if any power roles die before we can be sure.

The game being closed, there must be a few simple roles.

However, let's get on with scum hunting and not oust power roles.

Heh in case it was unclear, I was joking and meant that a scum should claim :P.

Ousting power roles tends to be a very bad decision, I agree.

I might end up with a few posts back to back here- I'm at work and skimming individual posters' posts and will put forth any questions I have when I have them.
Vryklan wrote:There is no proof he actualy rolled a dice to pick raffles, it's just too much of a coincidence that he had already had a go at raffles and then "oh look the dice picked raffles"; i dont believe it for a second.

In fact if i was making up a random d12 result 11 is the number i would have gone for too which reinforces my point.

Vote: Guardian
Setting aside that Guardian did use the dice tag, I fail to see how the number you would select proves that Guardian chose it deliberately.

Well he knows Raffles IRL... And maybe he is a mafioso and would want Raffles out of the game. Combined with this very good catch by gorckat and Vryklan claiming shotgun (mafia I assume) in post 108,
Unvote, Vote: Vryklan

Calling shotgun is a way of claiming the passenger seat in a car before it fills up and you get cramped into the back with 3 other people...his questionable logic was made to justify a vote of you.

Second official vote count:

Guardian (2): John, Vryklan
Occult (2): Vel-Rahn Koon, DLMF
Vryklan (2): Avinyl, Guardian
John (2): mustafa15, Ichigo
Avinyl (1): gorckat

Not voting: Peter Venkman, Raffles, Occult

12 alive, 7 to lynch.

I accidently had Guardian voting twice. This has been fixed.

Aye, it's pretty difficult to get any word in when Guardian, Raffles and Peter V are dominating the discussion.

Gut feeling says I should stick with my original vote though.

Please do not claim this early in the game. You shouldn't claim unless you're at Lynch-1, and even then if you're a Vanilla Townie, some people say don't claim at all.

Why? It keeps the scum guessing. Assume in a 12 player game that we have 3 scum. They all know each other, so they have 9 people to pick from to find the Cop/Doc/Other Power Role. With your claim, they're now down to 8. No claims unless you're under Lynch conditions people.
Guardian wrote:I guess I might be a good nightkill one then, with no doc to protect me :\/
If you're a Vanilla Townie, as you suggest in the first post, why would you be a good N1 kill? Please don't discuss strategy for the scum. There's no need to help them out.

And from what I've ever seen of Mafia, no Mod EVER bases his opening post on the actual game. Most Mods will actually tell you that you can't take anything they say at face value. Therefore, I think that looking at the Mod game setup post and assuming that we have no Cop and no Doc is an error.

@John - see post 61 please.

I'll restate my question a third time:

@Vryklan: How come the fact that you would choose the number 11 prove your suspicion of Guardian when you voted him (see post 107)?

FoS: Vryklan
for not answering it yet.

I'm also curious about the gut feelings leading to votes...I'd like mustafa and DLMF to substantiate their votes a bit more by at least looking at the posts of the people they voted and giving me some insight to their intuitions.

I see your point. If I was/am a power role, though, I would be saying the same thing at this time in the game :).
DLMF wrote:Aye, it's pretty difficult to get any word in when Guardian, Raffles and Peter V are dominating the discussion.
This isn't a real life conversation where only one person can speak at a time! On a forum, no one can dominate the discussion - absolutely nothing is preventing you from posting as much as we do :D.
John wrote:We should call out some lurkers like DLMF, Ichigo, Vel-rahn koon
I especially agree that Ichigo has not posted nearly enough.

Vryklan definitely has some explaining to do - the read I am getting is that he is a mafioso who would have wanted Raffles out of the game if inventing a (fake)random d12 roll. I don't know if this means anything as I've already voted for him, but

I don't count the d12 roll against him. We know each other, and we would both know we would vote each other for a laugh. That's what he meant by the emphasis of 11.

However, this on the other hand:

AKA, Random Vote.

Why stick with a random vote?

I don't have the statistics but in more than a few occasions, my first vote has been someone with substantial powers, either scum or townie. considering out of 12, 1/4 is mafia and 1/6 is cop and doc, the likelihood of snagging a scum is greater. This has only been done in what would be considered newbie games where speed and fun is of the greater value. Reliability in this game though is probably far less.

Anyway, while my vote may be random, the fact that its my first is the reason why I'm sticking with it.

I know it sounds stupid but hey, its only stupid when it fails. Maybe inexperience is the reason, but it appears I'm the only one with faith in a random vote.

I agree with Koon, I think it would be unwise to assume there are no investigate and protective roles despite what the mod said in the beginning. Would a game be this unbalanced?
