How to play Methodical Mafia


Instead of submitting choices each night, during Night 1 all players with night choices must send me a list of all their targets for the entire game (unless otherwise stated in your role PM). On Night 1, your target will be the first player on your list. On Night 2 your target will be the next player on your list, and so on. If the next player on your list was dead when the Night began, I will ignore their name and go down to the next name, and so on until I get to a living player. Once I get to the end of the list, I will start again at the top of the list.

If you want to target someone on consecutive nights, you can do this by having them appear in consecutive positions on your list. If everyone on your list is dead, you will not have any more choices.
Each list may be a maximum of 20 names long
.

To help you formulate your lists, I will open the thread and start “Day 0” once I have sent out all the role PMs. Day 0 will last for about 7 days and during that time you may discuss strategy and ask any questions you may have. There will be no lynch on Day 0.
All lists must be sent to me before the end of Day 0.
We will then go to Night 1, which will last only so long as it takes me to process the lists.

PLEASE NOTE: I have taken a number of steps to ensure that claims will have very limited value in this game. You have been warned.


Other Rules


[01] Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
[02] Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.
[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. Feel free to post in twilight, though.
[04] You may vote: no lynch. Majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
[05]If I impose a deadline, a lynch will require half a regular majority (rounded up). Once we are down to six or seven players, a lynch at deadline will require 3 votes. Once we are down to five players or fewer, only lynches with a regular majority will occur.
[06] When I set a day deadline, the deadline lasts until I actually lock the thread.
[07] The game is not to be discussed outside the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so – and then insofar as allowed by your role.
[08] Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. Not even a “Bah!” post, please. Save it for after the game is over.
[09] No small or invisible text. Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts either.
[10] Don’t quote any PMs from me. If you do, I will destroy you.
[11] If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
[12] Unlike other mods I am fallible. Please point out any mistakes I make gently. In particular, if I post a vote count that does not accurately reflect your vote, it is your responsibility to correct me. If you don’t your vote may be treated as it appears in the vote count.
[13] Remember, it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Be nice to your fellow players and your mod. I have zero tolerance for abusive posts.

It is now Day 0.


Day 0 will last for about 7 days (I'll set a deadline once everyone has confirmed). During this time, you may discuss strategy in the thread and ask any questions you may have. There will be no lynch on Day 0. We will then go to Night 1, during which all lists must be sent to me.

Well, I have an idea... and I'm taking a risk.

I'm the night watchman.
I am allowed to watch myself ONCE. I would like EVERYONE IN THE GAME to target me, Night One.

If this works properly... then I will see all the ones who targeted me. The ones who didn't, are scum.

If only one mafia member is sent out to the kill (hence, the need for the night watchman role), I will see all who do not target me.

The Roleblocker
should target himself in order for this plan to work. The scum can only kill one, and send one out at a time. In other words, one scum will target me, the doc will protect me, and I will see a number of people not targeting me... the Roleblocker, whomever he is (if he even exists), and the other scum.

Even though I outted my role, if the town, in general, feels this is not a viable play, it doesn't make a difference.

I think there's a pretty good chance either 3 or 4 is true(or both), which makes your plan fairly worthless.

well obviously the plan is flawed if he's town. it is also worth remarking that if lml is a godfather the plan, if followed, would be just dandy for the mafia. trouble with that latter point is mafia would be silly to suggest a plan and then just a minute later point out that it doesn't work themselves (if their objective is to have people follow the plan), so i'm thinking there's a 30% chance lml made an honest cock-up, 70% chance of mindgames.

cock-up is consistent with both scum and town, and considering we're talking lee, mindgames is consistent with both scum and town too.

He might also do it as town, but I'd say he's more likely to play mindgames as scum. The cock-up theory pretty much has the same ratio though.

If I see what he is saying, he will be dividing the group into two sections: The power-roles and the killing scum, and the townies and the non-killing scum? I don't see how that actually benifets the town to an extent.

I guess that would at least narrow the field somewhat in terms of who was who. Depending on the actual number of power roles, it may or may not be useful to do so. Of course, if the tow agrees to follow the plan then the mafia and SK (if there is one) get free kills night 1 because they know who the doc will be protecting.

On top of all that, I'm inclined to believe Stoof when he says that he's built in disincentives to claiming - so all in all, bad plan in my eyes. I'd be inclined to think that LML could come up with something better if this were a gambit, though.

okay i reckon we can turn this night start into a day start by using the vig's kill as the d0 lynch. i am of the opinion that this would be a good thing - although there are downsides the benefit is i think well worth it. thoughts?
