Mafia 75: Return of the Mafia! TOWN WINS (really late)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Jan 22, 2008 7:52 am

With new mod Gorrad!

After a few moments of everyone stood staring dumbfoundedly at the defaced and ruined statue, panic broke out, there were shouts and screams, until the town mayor called for silence, and began a speech:

"Citizens of Mattacini, are we going to let these evil scumbags take over our pleasant town, what would our fathers, the ones that defeated these people before many years ago, many sacrificing their lives for it, think of us if we did. I, as the leader of this town, will not allow this to happen. We're going to do what our heroic ancestors, the ones we celebrate every year, did. We're going to bring them to justice ourselv-"

At this point, a shot fired out from the general crowd, and the mayor collapsed, dying from a bullet to the heart. The Mafia had hoped this would panic the town into surrender, but this only strengthened their resolve to defeat them.

Tomorrow, they were going to lynch one of the 30 residents in the town. And keep doing this until the Mafia were dead. They hoped...

Rules (Stolen from my previous game)

1: This is a game. Having fun is a requirement.
2: Please bold your votes. For example,
Vote: RandomPerson
. Votes that are not bolded will not be counted.
3: If you wish to change your vote, bold an unvote for the player you were voting and vote for the new player you are going to be voting. For example,
Unvote: RandomPerson, Vote: ScummyPerson
. If you do not unvote in this format, your vote will not be counted.
4: Lynching will require a majority of the votes. You may Vote: No Lynch to decide to not lynch someone on a given day. No-lynching requires a majority of the votes. Once a lynch is decided, the decision is final. Feel free to continue posting until the thread is locked, but unvoting before I check the thread will not prevent the player from being lynched.
5: If you get lynched or killed, you may post one "Bah." post.
6: Any questions, concerns, desires for me to prod, whatever PM me.
7: If the discussion is slowing, I may place a two-week deadline. Nights will have five day deadlines.
8: Never quote anything that I PM to you.
9: Treat this game as a commitment and be considerate of me and your fellow players.
10: No small or invisible text.
11: Do not discuss this game outside the thread at any time, except if your role specifically allows you to do so.
12: If you do not post for a week without notifying me you will be away, you will be prodded. Not posting within 3 days of the prod will result in replacement.
13: In the case of a deadline, the person with the most votes at deadline will be lynched, but only if they have at least half the required votes needed for a normal lynch (rounded up). In the case of a tie, the first to reach the number of votes that the players are tied at will be lynched.
14: This is my official colour.

15: Albert's posts' will always be in blue and signed.

Sorry about the delay, my internet wasn't working last night.

Day breaks over Mattacini, the sun rises as gradually as the people rise; but soon enough, the town has gathered in the town square, next to the desecrated statue that symbolises exactly why they are here. The lynching rope, that myth has it was the original used the last time the town resorted to these drastic measures, is taken from the town hall and laid on a slab of stone, taken from the ruins of the statue, that is sitting on a high wooden platform, that has a beam hanging above it, and a trapdoor just beneath.

But, there seems to be a few less people than there was at yesterdays scene. A head count is done. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 26, 27. It seems that 3 of your number didn't even make it to the first day. You split and up to search the houses of the missing.

The first group didn't get very far on the path to
Tarhalindur's
house, as he is found dead in the street, his chest and head full of bullet holes. This pillar of the community will be missed, and there are some tears visible amongst the crowd as they lay him to rest, his
Police Badge
resting with him.

The second group get to the house of their victim. He recently moved back into the town, after a long trip away, but
TheJiveMachine
didn't stay for long, his throat has been slit. Most of you are freaked out by his house, it looked like he was a fanatic Christian follower, with religious texts found strewn all over his house, and disturbingly, a sharpened Crucifix was found under his bed, with the words "Sent back to Hell" carved into it. Next to it, are more mysterious texts, that speak of plans to start a
religious cult
in this town! You retreat from the house quickly with the body, as the house creeps you all out.

The third victim was another well known person, some of you knew him as a man that upheld the law, other more unruly people knew him as a pain in the arse.
JDGA
was a bouncer at a local popular club. In these times of crisis, it seems as if he had decided to use the skills he learnt in his profession to good use, and became a
Bodyguard
, sadly his new trade only lasted for one night, ended by a huge hole in the gut, caused by a shotgun wound

Tarhalindur, Cop, Shot Night 0

TheJiveMachine, Delayed Cult Recruiter, Throat Slit Night 0

JDGA, Bodyguard, Shotgunned Night 0

Sucks the cop is dead, but yay so is the cult. The delayed recruit will be wandering around tomorrow with no friends. (Survivor is a fun role, right?)

Out of curiousity, why are some of the numbers in the list bolded and some arn't?

Mod Edit: (Note: This will now be my official colour, this will be added to the rules) The numbers are of no importance, and will be fixed.

wow, what a start. 2 major power roles dead, but the cult recruiter murdered too. Not sure what 'delayed' means. Maybe he couldnt recruit until after a couple days?
Looks like an SK kill anyway. I wonder if that means the cult is dead, or they have another member. If the cult is dead, we can probably assume 2 anti-town killing factions, maybe 2 mafia groups.
Interesting kill choices too. Im not atall surprised by Tar or TJM, but JDGA seems a little strange. Who here has played with him before?

Oh and despite the death of the Cop, I'm going to come forward anyway. I think it was Sir T who said that if you are a miller you should come forward at the earliest opportunity in order to prevent an investigation being wasted. In case we have an additional cop-like role (this is 30 player ppl!) ya know?

oh and finally,

Given that JDGA was a bodyguard, he may not have been targeted at all. I've never played bodyguard, would it be usual to throw out a "blind" protect on night 0?

Nice, we nipped the cult recruiter before that could get obnoxious.

but christ, our cop and doc type role? Hopefully in the 30 person game we have more than one, or at least some backups.

Oh, and I assume that the Vig killed Night 0?!

I think there is probably a lone recruit wondering around at there, if the recruiter was able to recruit last night.

Looks like this should be a fun game.

ok got to work and I have other games in dire need of updating.

also,

i thought a body guard was someone who "took the bullet" if their chosen protectee is targeted for death. On ight 0, any chosen protectee would by necessity be an uninformed, and hence blind choice. If a bodyguard is a doc , then disregard everything I have said

Hmm several different ways to read those deaths. All I can add is that, to me, a shotgun kills sounds like a PGO.

Well I should say, not known as an Army Vet but kind of similar to it.

If the Bodyguard is a Protector/Doctor type, could be that if he targeted a PGO for protection, the PGO would kill him.

Wow, BM, way to be an idiot. It's obvious that the cult recruiter would have recruited...why wouldn't he? Also, the delayed cult recruiter, by definition, delays the recruit knowing he was recruited.

Battle Mage wrote: Woah. How do you know...

1: Because while you chose not to assume anything about the delayed recruiter and asked what it could mean, I decided to go another way.

My way is by remembering every "delayed" action I've ever seen means "it happens later", so a delayed SK's kill won't show up until tomorrow, and a delayed cult recruiter won't have their recruitment go through until tomorrow.

2: If 1 is true then delayed would be an adjective used to describe the recruit.

For what's it worth, the recruiter is dead, so it isn't me... If I am right then the recruit doesn't know they will be cult yet, so it is as likely to be me as it is likely to be anyone else.

I love how I'm bandwagon worthy btw... You just claimed that someone investigating you will get a guilty result, yet I am the scummy one?
eh?
Am i wrong in thinking that a Bodyguard is another name for a Doctor?
Yes?

A Bodyguard is a protective role, but they usually die if they protect someone. (Unless they are an elite bodyguard.)
WhoMe wrote:at first i was gonna ask what you were talking about, but on re-read, yeah, all we know is that we have a dead delayed recruiter, who said anything about a recruit?
What does a recruiter do? Recruits people, yes? So if there was a regular recruiter you would assume there is a cult member running around.

If you were a delayed SK, would you kill someone n0 so they'd die n1? Assuming the cultist works the same way, I'll ask you the same question; would you recruit someone n0 so they'd become cult n1?

So even if the recruit was delayed, they'd still exist tomorrow despite them being reduced to a survivor role.
