Caring about not making people uncomfortable or hurting them is never a bad thing. Filtering ourselves to be a more inclusive, welcoming community isn't hard.

Can we stop having bad faith arguments that just because a word didn't always have racial connotations it means that we can use it freely? It is currently assigned a heavily racial connotation. End of story, doesn't matter that it hasn't always, it matters that it does now and has a history of being used this way.

We all know the noose in the Nascar garage was racial and we all know why and that's why we should be removing it from the site.

The only heavy racial connotation associated with the word "lynch" is the one applied to it by sheltered (largely white) social justice warriors who want to promote some form of change in the world and can't figure out how to do it, so instead of just trying to be good, understanding human beings who try to hold themselves to a high standard and lead by example, they victimize themselves and minorities and put the blame on the way people speak.

The sheltered one is you.

Hypothetical Scenario

:

Someone has a fun time playing mafia or werewolf or some variation thereof in a real life setting. They decide to go see if anyone is putting together these games online and stumble upon the site. But upon getting into their first newbie game, they discover everyone is talking about "lynching" each other. Sure, it's just a game, but this person is still made a bit uncomfortable with all the talk of lynching people. Still, they complete their first game, but the feeling of unease sours the experience. They do not return to the site.

For people against this rule:

still kind of agree that "eliminate" is too clinical and kind of runs contrary to the base theme of mafia games: town trying to find and rid themselves of the mafia via mob justice. both exile and execute are just better.

Porkens you have spent your entire life being indoctrinated with the idea of American exceptionalism. We have heard people who would prefer lynch remains. We are still making the change. If you have questions about what that change will look like, those are appropriate posts, please do so, I am watching the thread for those questions! Opining about not making the change or wanting the decision reversed, or some combination thereof, are not really appropriate at this point. We know a tiny number of people oppose this change. We have heard the feedback, we even anticipated hearing that kind of feedback, but we've made the decision anyway to remove lynch from our mafia vocabulary.

Can there still be exceptions if the theme kinda involves the term?
