13500 and change. I'm very happy with how it's going this week. But, week 2 is usually when I slump for a few days.

Skype should work with that.

well, that's what the weekend is for

CLIFF NOTES

From our skype swap meet!

T-Bone: Tense…decide if you are using past or present please…at least don’t change mid sentence!

Nati: Voice, your characters sound all alike, and the male protagonist is way too comfortable with his circumstances

Ffery: Voice, your characters all sound the same, and the tension is not there when it should be.

Anx: Need to write more! No idea what is going on right now.

Heiro: Mature the characters, make evil quips setting appropriate, remember that everyone thinks they are the good guy

Klaz: Office guy is kinda a dick for no reason, both to his co-workers and family. The jump from the first scene to the office is jarring, and the story is progressing really really fast.

Kuribo: Show, don’t tell. Don’t let others sound like John, maybe set the story before the 2200s.

Hierophant is me, by the way. Just so T-Bone's cliff notes makes sense.

Also, our swap meet was really good.

Oh god this past week went entirely down the shitter.

Guess I have to start making up ground this coming week, got two days off in a row with not much planned, probably gonna try and hammer out a TON then.

I'm giving this a shot this year, too. I'm only at about 7,700 words, though. Really need to pick up the pace. I've already got an outline to work off of, though, so my planning is pretty good. I'm hoping to get caught up today.

Edit
: And I just figured out how many words I'll need to catch up. Over 5k Hahaha, that's not happening.

leaving some comments for the excerpts I didn't get the chance to read before leaving at the skype swap

Klazam: I'm not sure why the narrator was being mean to the secretary. I think audiences can enjoy mean characters/moments if they understand where it is coming from though.

There some good tension starting between narrator and his family with the move. Don't know how this is going to relate to the other stuff flashing to the mystery room narrative, but maybe that's the point: it's going to be revealed later.

Kuribo: I liked the pacing in the excerpt: starts with a little bit of action, then you get some backstory, dialogue, character development, and finally rounding off into the main bit with the daughter. Felt balanced.

I'd suggest try varying your sentence structures; they're similar in length. You also fall into a habit of starting off with dialogue followed by further explaining the dialogue or explaining something else.
