SETUP RULES

  • Eight players will be active in the game at any given time. Six of the players will make up a panel and two of the players will be competing against each other. Contestants and panel members make up two different sign-up queues. Both roles hold significantly different responsibilities during the game. If there are not eight active players at any time, then play will cease until we have at least eight total.
  • Players in the panel do not earn any points. They should be completely impartial to the contestants and check any favoritism they may have at the door. Contestants are playing against each other for points. There is a circle (
    ) and a triangle (
) contestant. They both interact with the panel on their respective turns in order to gain matches and advance in the game. The contestant with the most matches gets to play for cash!
  • There will be no recurring seats. All seats are given up at the end of each game. Players may play however many times they like, but they obviously may only play on one side at a time. It is acceptable to sign-up for one or both queues, depending on your preference.

GAME RULES

NOTE: These rules will be written as though the player has never seen the game played. I will attempt to mimic the American game show's rules as closely as I can (minus the Audience Match portion). I reserve the right to alter the rules should the need arise, but rest assured everything I change or add will be documented and the fundamental mechanics of the game won't change.

Matching

  • One of the contestants will be chosen at random to play first. Using a two-sided "die" (dice tags), rolling a one will have the circle contestant going first, and rolling a two will have the triangle contestant going first. This contestant will be given a fill-in-the-blank question where he has to give a response for the blank. This response should be given so that it will match as many of the panelists as possible.
  • After the question is given, all the panelists must PM me their answers first. Once I give the okay, the contestant then may give his answer publicly, and he'll then be told how many matches he received.
  • Panelists have a
    72 hour time limit
to give me their response to these questions after I read them. If someone does not respond within this time limit, that person is taken out of the game in favor of the next person on the queue. Contestants do not have a time limit, but are expected to be prompt.
  • The other contestant is then given an opportunity to go next.
  • After both contestants had a chance, we play a second round of matching with the same rules. The only difference in the second round is that panelists who have already matched a contestant do not play with them again in this round.
  • The person with the most matches at the end of both rounds will move on. If there is a tie, the matches are reset and we play a tiebreaker round.

Head-to-Head

  • The winning contestant gets to make a choice for the head-to-head round. He may play for 1,000, 2,000, or 5,000 dollars depending on how he chooses to take on the final round.
  • If the contestant wants to play for the standard 1,000 dollars, the player may try to sync up with the panelist of his choice. The contestant and the panelist will be given the same fill-in-the-blank question and they have to match up for the contestant to win.
  • If the contestant is feeling a little more brave, he may try for 2,000 dollars. The difference this time is that the panelist is chosen at random! The contestant will roll one six-sided die using dice tags, and the panelist that matches up with the corresponding number (where the top left panelist is one, top middle is two, top right is three, bottom left is four, bottom middle is five, and bottom right is six) will be the panelist chosen. If he feels confident about all of the panelists, this could be the best option to earn extra cash.
  • If the contestant is feeling extremely confident in his abilities, then he may try for 5,000 dollars. At this level, he has to match up with two panelists! This is a combination of both the previous types, where one panelist is chosen by the contestant and the other is chosen at random with dice tags. The dice roll happens first, then the contestant chooses the other panelist from the remaining panel. The contestant may give two different answers
    if he chooses
, but both of them have to show up for him to win.

Scoring

  • During the matching portion of the game, if a contestant matches with a panelist, then their corresponding shape will light up underneath their name. It will stay lighted up until both rounds are complete and either a tiebreaker game starts or one of the contestants wins.
  • The head-to-head portion is played strictly for cash.
  • The cash totals will rank players first, then total wins, and then losses. The total matches and panel visits will not be calculated toward rankings, but, rather, are only used for recordkeeping.

So I think that the contestants are jmj3000 and Drench, and the panelists are everyone else. I think we're all set, then!

Yeah, that should be fine.

JDGA wrote:/in as panelist, because we're going to need a LOT more of them.

As long as we have eight active, then we're good. I mean, we can play with the same people in multiple games, I was just saying that if anyone else gets on either queue, they have priority over anyone else currently playing for the next game.

"From the same people that brought you Mafia Family Feud comes Match Game: MS! Can you match your fellow scummers?"

"We've already got all the people together and ready to play, so let's get this game started right away. jmj3000 is our first contestant in the circle spot, and Drench will be our second contestant in the triangle spot! Our panel is all filled up with your favorite scummers from across the website. So, jmj and Drench, are you ready to match your fellow scummers?"

"Per the rules, we'll do a coin flip to start the game. As a reminder, the circle contestant is considered number one, and the triangle contestant is considered number two."
