I think it's entirely player/context dependent and you can't just say "scum do this" and "town do this."

Game would be on auto if that was the case.

Look at the votes, how wagons are built, think about motivations for the way they rise and fall, and the circumstances around the elimination.

From my perspective I've experienced so many players in their own little boxes that presume Scum/Town must play this way or that way.

How do you best navigate Day 1? I'm sure you know my main and that I struggle with Day 1 in general.

I think it's common to struggle/hate D1.

I like to play around wagons since votes are the only impactful thing, especially in 9p since scum are disincentivized from bussing.

If I try to advance something D1 I usually get town killed so I stay on the sidelines on D1 usually nowadays, I'm better when there's a flip.

I think people are being too hard on IAVH. It's 6 pages in and he has a quite jocular/trollish playstyle, and being a :troll: is NAI.

i mean - the answer is no, scum could jump on them as an easy push....but, early D1 wagons almost never lead to an elim so now seems like a weird time to do that.

conversely, iavh is someone that scum could come in and do exactly what you're doing now! that has a bit more benefit given my early d1 wagon comment above + buddying + attempted townpoints

My current reads that aren't null:

PP - Town lean, early interactions showed em looking at the game in a similar way to me, and naturally I'm going to trust someone who's on the same page. (Wrote this before the new posts, me likey the new posts on a first look)
IAVH - Town lean that comes down to meta reasons and being cooperative with my questioning VS being uncooperative w/ Nurse & El. The personality present here is consistent with the IAVH I read in 2303.
Elements - Town lean. Elements posting with an agenda is scum, Elements posting without one is town. I'm yet to see an agenda.

KittyTacky - Scum lean, feel like nothing he's said this game so far has meant all that much bar the stuff reading IAVH as townie, but even that is not rly a controversial opinion in the current gamestate. Should be worth noting he said he usually stays on the sidelines in Day 1 so maybe it's just that playstyle that's giving me the ick on this slot, but I'd like to see some proactivity here at some point soon.
KKFC - Scum lean, meta read seems good from me but making KKFC aware of it early means KKFC now has to make a decision regarding their playstyle. Still think keeping my vote here is best for now.

I noticed that your vote on me in 15 remained there the entirety of Day 1: it never moved. To be fair, mine never moved either, and the reason for this is that I haven't truly given this game the attention it deserved.

So did I! I wasn't paying much attention day 1 because I'm often demotivated D1.

As for 77, I am not new, and am an alt of Wake. On reread regarding that same post I do wonder why you said I was newish to Mafia, when in that post of mine you quoted 39 I had even mentioned I had a main account?

I suppose that matters little either way. 78 resonates with me because similarly I really, REALLY struggle with Day 1 because I have absolutely zero tangible evidence to work with: the game, for me as Town, actually starts with Day 2. 's stupidity and not understanding that a miscounted voted can cause a mis-lim, compromising the game, which is a bad thing; I will say that being confrontational doesn't *necessarily* make one Town. It can be very easy to fake.

To be honest I was going to vote him as well but then I saw that he had already been hammered. I think we disagree on 301, in that I do suspect at least one Scum may have jumped on the opportunity to lim the village idiot—I would then expect the other to stay off it as a counterweight, meaning there's probably one on the wagon and one targeting someone else. As an aside I feel much more liberated playing as Town because I can just relax, take my time, and slowly analyze the game at my own pace without feeling the need to pretend.

I like playing scum because I don't feel like I'm floundering and adrift like I feel as town sometimes.

302 I'm not nearly as comfortable on: anyone with a colored username here has ample experience thus, in my opinion, will be FAR better at playing as either Town or Scum. Perhaps my view on this is flawed, but I doubt it; I have good reason to be worried *if*

Led town. I looked through the ISO and didn't really see any real scum motivation in PP's actions honestly. But PP is just one of those players who always seems townie to me so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

And yeah a lot of it does have to do with paranoia because I suspect if you're Scum you're good at being Scum, and I can't remember who exactly said it but one of the other players here mentioned that Scum PP tends to try to take control of the game and manipulate other players.

It's hard to tell a town leader from manipulative scum but I think PP is the former.
