4 deaths - ack... not so good.... however we do get lots of info. 2 baddies down is good.
I agree that Gollum is probably the neck-snapper (I saw him more of a biter and scratcher myself)- although I may be getting confused but don't the trolls in The Hobbit talk of snapping Bilbo's neck at one point. *makes a note to check*
There were 3 trolls - so that would fit with a nice size scum group.
I also agree that Gandalf is the most likely candidate for the lightning... he dispatches Wargs in this manner in LOTR, if memory serves. I would say that Gandalf is probably a vigi of some desciption - or maybe a doc with a percentage kill rate (The Hobbit always played Gandalf as more of an oddball and not very helpful all the time - from what we know of him in LOTR he could have done a lot more to save the dwarfs through various encounters than he did IMHO).
Goblins definately use scimitars...
Does anyone think Boern will be included?-

I think the suggestion that the 13 dwarves - whose name rhyme in groups of 2 or 3 - could be related in some way, is possible... and it is most likely IMHO that they are all townies (I don't see how you could split them into townies and a scum group purely based on the events of TH).
I had a think of how I would set this game up and it is what I would most likely do - maybe make a couple of small mason groups amongst the dwarves whose names rhyme?
Also, I suppose, the likelihood that there are 'sibling' pairs amongst the group is high.
I don't think JK needs a vote for it, so I willFOS: jediknightfor good measure for his comments about GOLLUM.
Bilbo was hired for the story as a burglar - I think he is very likely to be a thief character who can investigate one player each night and find out what they are carrying (eg their item incriminates mafia).-

My only comment is I see it as clutching for straws...
Yeah - why doesn't Thorin just come out and tell you who is so you can protect him tonight. That would be a really good idea.I thought it was a wicked weak role myself. Perhaps Thorin could shed some more light?
For reference, everything after the quote is sarcasm-

So far I see three people that strike me as curious...
jediknight - seems to be playing like a newbie - complete with the over-eagerness... taking this into account I still don't see a solid defence from him, rather pushing away accusations with the "I know, but what about person X..." routine.
IS - confuses the hell out of me but due to my non-understanding of him, I have relied on my knowledge of him from chat mafia. His style is confusing no matter how he plays - and in this game, so far I am seeing 'things' that remind me of him as an SK in chat mafia... can't quite place it though.... maybe "it's just a feeling" as he would say...
Yaw - Im so not sure about Yaw; so far but his unvote seems almost staged. The old addage keep your friends close and your enemies closer would apply until I've made up my mind.
All in all, Im happy with my vote on jediknight.-

Having just re-read things myself, I am tempted to join the bandwagon. Not only was the bickering a give-away, but the IS issue still grates on me...
I can't quite put my finger on it but Im suspicious of IS too...
For now, I think Korais', defence was too 'over-the-top' and seems just staged.Vote: Koraisas one vote does not a lynch make and suspicion does not always have to have a reason - sometimes gut feelings can be remarkably accurate.
I willFOS: IStoo for good measure.-

LOL - One of them is you ... sorry! I don't mind you being honest - but having your own opinion is a good thing. It might be wrong, but doesn't mean that you are wrong to have it. Opinions change granted, but you seemed to eager to please for my liking. What more can I say?
The other is IS - as I have stated before, and the third is someone I will keep under my hat for now!-

Bandwagons... hmmm.... Well Im not gonna vote ID if he is at band camp.... let's hope he doesn't meet a flute wielding nympho (or maybe he will )
So... Im a bit curious about the sudden spate of attacks on Coolbot, and although he was my second choice, I do find it most curious that everyone is not jumping off the ID bandwagon to start FOSsing him.... almost like laying the seeds for something IMHO.
No vote from me yet... Im watching 3 people with great interest however.-

I think the last set of posts reveals a lot.
Coolbot and Yaw are both seem sure the other is a Goblin (not Gollum, or a spider). I now suspect them both because whoever we lynch - assuming we find they are a goblin, the other will rely on that as innocence-fodder (I like that term!). The fued between them is akin to the fued between Yaw and Jedi (to use coolbot's expression).
I think a vote for ID is wasted at this time and would prefer my vote on Yaw or Coolbot. My suggestion would be - due to the nature of the continued argument - that whichever we lynch, any cops then investigate the other so we can prove/disprove the distancing theory between the two.
If Yaw is a goblin, then 'dobbing in' two of his scum buddies is a brilliant and very dangerous move on his part - therefore:Vote: Coolbot-

I suppose the only defense I can put up is that I have been unavailable a lot recently. Trips abroad -with work- and such have meant my time here has been quite limited. In a lot of cases I have just been following what everyone else has done... and yes, that is my fault.
As proof of this - you will see my participation level in all my games has decreased -Babylon5 mafia is still yet to start ( ), and the conservative nature you describe, is a result of my absences. Without firm understanding of things I haven't been able to commit myself to going on the offensive and have relied on quick reads and asking questions.
I will try to keep up and participate more.-

Coolbot - I find myself in a similar situation to AndrewS. Nothing much jumps out at me, currently... I can see people's arguments for voting one person, or another... I ask a few questions and follow the guidance of others... Even I will admit I have not been actively helping the town... however...
My problem currently is that I have become 'detached' from the games I am in due to lots of small absences (work commitments - a few days at a time, over the past four weeks). Where I would normally put clues and information together from post to post - and make notes about people, I haven't had the luxury of a full read and thus, the ability to grasp a full understanding of the situation. I am dry when it comes to ideas...
All that being said, I am off work tomorrow (YAY) and plan to sit down in all my games and work out where I am, and what I really think.
I can only ask that you believe me, however - I know several people can vouch for my absences, hell - read any of my games currently and you will see that I am stating exactly the same things in all games. Maybe I should consider asking to be replaced... hohum, tomorrow will tell...
Where am I currently?
I voted Uraj, not because of his lurkiness (hell, I am guilty of that), but because of his hedging his bets comment:
Ultimately, if you want me to claim, I can do so - without giving too much away (of course) - however I do have an important role to play in this game.I'm willing to put my vote on jediknight although I won't do it yet so that everyone on your list can talk. The behavior doesen't spark much suspicion in me really but the claim is just rediculous. Even if he's not scum, we don't lose too much in lynching him. It's pretty good bet.-

OK - I have re-read the whole lot...
Nothing major jumps out at me yet - however, I find it most curious that Tigris suggests that knowing Coolbot's dwarf name will help the town. Since Coolbot had already given his dwarf's name and it hadn't been countered it's either an attempt on Tigris' part to see if Coolbot gives a different dwarf... or an attempt by a Tigris to find a specific dwarf.
Im curious as to why Tigris didn't already know the name however since Coolbot had already given it and Yaw had reposted that Coolbot was Bifur in post #612 so it's not as if the dwarf name had been lost in any of the previous pages.
Since I'm inclined to believe Coolbot (no counter, ?Tigris' test failed?) then I would suggest that Tigris is a good bet for today.
Vote: Tigrisuntil we get an explanation.-

Yes - what FD said was correct Quag. You are making it worse for yourself...
FYI: Bilbo started his journey as a 'burglar' with 13 dwarves - recruited so that there would not be 13 going on the journey - Gandalf appeared and reappeared in the story as it served... Im not sure where the confusion is. And they all had names-
