Shanba, I see your point now, but looking at the same posts I still see it differently. I would agree that between the time he doesn't appear to suspect Crub and his vote on Crub, there is quite a bit of leeway and question-asking. But, between the time when he

begin to suspect Crub and his actual vote, there seems to be a big change in not much time.

Keep in mind that in all that time he doesn't see what makes Crub particularly scummy.

Then he makes a post oversimplifying Crub's points of view. The next post he says he's ok with his vote but is considering voting Crub. The next post,

after

jdodge votes Crub, is a vote on Crub.

Do you see what I'm getting at? I don't really see him building a case toward a Crub vote. I see him thinking there

isn't

much of a case on Crub until the discussion on him picks up a little more and the wagon picks up another vote. That is what looks opportunistic about it rather than "patient."

I had another look at the posts in context, and TSN makes that post after Crub had given a case on kleb, which is slightly odd timing. It doesn't look so much opportunistic to me though as it does OMGUSsy.

Tangled webs indeed. I don't think he was building a case against Crub - the impression I got was that he was pressuring Crub and then voted him when he got fed up about not having his questions answered.

I wasn't trying to suggest that there

was

something scummy about Crub that TSN wasn't seeing, but rather I just wanted to point out TSN's shift in opinion.

His vote is really hard to interpret. I still don't think he had much of an idea why he was voting Crub when he did. Most of his arguments came quite a bit afterward. Immediately after his vote I asked what brought him to it, and he said

I'm voting crub because I find his play decidedly anti-town, and I don't have such a strong case on jdodge that I'm not willing to switch.

which really isn't providing any reasoning. After that, Crub asks for details, and then he gives some reasoning, which is good, but I can't help but wonder why the details had to be pulled out of him.

TSN, if you'd like to comment on any of this to clear things up, that would be nice.

Sure. Um, well, I voted jdodge at the beginning of the day, but I didn't have much of a case on him. I mostly wanted to pressure him, which wasn't really working, and then crub started voting without explanation, and even when asked, not in an accusatory way, "make a case," refused to do so, and told me I was scummy for asking, I couldn't think of a reason why town would behave like that. Still can't, to be honest.

You're essentially making contradictions in saying this. If you are active and are making posts, then you are the one susceptible to have your attacks argued by the few other active players. On the other hand, there are so many lurkers that it's tough to single out a single one without using meta to see which ones are lurking intentionally in this game.

Then why the hell are you guys so uptight about me? I'm not lurking intentionally in THIS game, im "lurking" in all but two games. am I scum in all three games I have neglected or simply this one?

Some people take notes. In my first few games I took notes, but it didn't really work for me, so I use them infrequently now. It's easier to keep up with the game as it flows, rather than replacing in and reading a static thread. It's mostly a trick of sorting out salient information amongst the ocean of posts. Eventually, as you notice enough scummy posts you can build up a picture of the game and say "x is scummy".

Meta is metagame, or facts from outside the game. Metagame could involve, for example, knowing that x is passive as scum, and applying that to the game. Some forms of metagame are more highly regarded than others. See the article on the ms wiki.

Bussing is a scum intentionally attacking his partner in order to look more like town.

There was something about Neko that made me a little suspicious, but I can't recall what or where it was. Its tough to jump in during day 3, read the posts, and keep track of where stuff was that caught my attention.

As far as K7, here are my thoughts. When looking at voting history, his history struck me as suspicious. Some of the vote switching back and forth, as well as who he voted for. And looking back at some of his posting patterns, they seem a little suspicious, some of it probably from some lurking. After looking back through the posts, I agree with K7 that RW seemed to be lurking towards the end of his life. But his response has still been kind of minimal, so my vote stays where it is, dude.

I need to have some content from you in order to get a rad on your alignment. Neko is a player I was having difieculty reading, and I wanted, therefore, a fresh perspective. I felt it would be helpful to have you try and quantify some sort of position on a player.

I'll take another look at Neko. Like I said, I was having difficulty reading him too, sometimes he seemed suspicious, but then he wouldn't. I will say it would make reading people a lot easier if we could lynch a Mafia.
