Explaining your vote is common practice, unless you're scum looking to get a quick mislynch. Simply saying "just go back and look" isn't good enough. What do you find scummy about me?

BlakAdder wrote:And now, we're on to our next logical fallacy, leading questions. A better way to have put it would have been that you want people to go back and misinterpret things in my posts as scummy. By now it's pretty obvious that you were just voting to get a reaction from me. Also, Tornado, why did you feel the need to jump in and answer my question for Shanba?
I am assuming you referred to the post I quoted above in your post 202?
BlakAdder wrote:@Tornado: Yes, I get it, which I quite clearly stated, but you're missing the point. Just answer instead of trying to disguise your answer in quotes.
@Shanba: Care to explain your vote?
No.
Don't do this. Don't start a case on someone and then refuse to provide evidence/thoughts. Do not.
Don't tell me how to play, please.

Whilst normally I wouldn't take playstyle criticism from Wall-E, he's right in this case.

I abandoned this place out of stress about 6 months ago. I let a lot of people down in doing so. I am starting afresh, I will not join more than 2 games at a time and I will definitely not be modding a game in the foreseeable future.
No, he's wrong. REfusing to explain my votes is an innefective way of getting a lynch, but I'm not much interested in getting a lynch. or even a wagon, right now. My vote is partly a reminder ot myself to keep an eye on Blakadder, partly an acknowledgement that he is who I find scummiest right now and partly an attempt to get a reaction (not necessarily from BlakAdder, mind. Reasonless or simply weak votes are good methods for getting partners to show themselves: see my weakish attack on DGB, and then Yos2 coming to her defence. The rest of the game is a trainwreck and I would not recommend reading it unless you have some sort of desire for pain, but I was scum in that game so it could be useful for meta, I guess...

...so you agree that you should have stated reasons? Because you just stated them...
@armlx: My thoughts: This game is too young to have strong opinions yet, but I'm forming one about Shanba based on this exchange. I also think BlackAdder has made some excellent points so far.
Anything else you want to hear my thoughts on, just ask.

I don't see how I'm "blowing things out of proportion." All I said was that it would be helpful if you explained yourself instead of telling us that your actions should be obvious. Other people have voted you for it; I didn't think it was THAT big of a deal.

Semantics. I have no stated case on him, if you like that wording better.
Gah. Having the whole thing revolve around "Why is Shanba voting him?" is justt about the worst case scenario, as it is not supposed to attract attention, precisely the opposite. However, I'd like to put forwards a few propositions for you.
Firstly, the received wisdom is sometimes wrong.
Secondly, it is rarely the case (or not) behind a vote that makes it scummy.
Thirdly, it can sometimes be beneficial to hide the case behind your vote.
BTW, Alabaska, what do you think my case on BlakAdder is?
@armlx: I'm beginning to feel that you may be right, in that hiding my vote is doing more damage by obfuscating the discussion than it is helping by achieving the benefits I originally intended. As such, I will reveal my case after I get a few responses.

But, I have already explained everything (reasonable). That is precisely the point everyone was missing.
Moratorium: What exactly was the point of that post? Are you keeping track of votes, commenting on people in the game? What did it tell you about each player and who in that did you find the scummies?
Sarcasm is just a way of saying how stupid you think someone is but in a more polite way.

If it seems like everyone else is being unreasonable, the common denominator is you. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but don't blame everyone else for your posts causing confusion (or not, as the case may be interpreted).
@Moritorium: That's what I thought you meant. Thanks for the clarification.

The point of that post was to appear as if he were actually contributing something to the game.

Geez thanks for your help? Didn't think of that myself.
I was trying to get more out of him because I dislike people who do that.

I strongly consider a PBPA to be participation. He's not obligated to share his thoughts, but simply showing that he's read the thread increases his esteem in my eyes. What more do you want? Ask him directly if there's more you'd like from him.

Ugh, I havn't had the time to look at each player and actually come up with a "what do i think about this".. doing this was enough of a chore.
I did it more just to get an idea of the various associations so far, vote timing, etc. There's been a lot of junk posting in this thread IMO, and I'm trying to get a better handle on the possible cliques. And those of you who are all up in the lurker's grills get that info as well.
More information is good. I havn't played in a game this large before so i imagine one aspect that will get in the way of town is getting through the clutter, having 16 different conversations going on at once, etc.
I consider it more of a reference for later than some sort of "Hey guys, I have the answer to everything!" thing.

Posting that was contributing more than some other players have. And it helps with Post Counts and voting patterns which means he took the time to read the thread.
