The camera being held by Charlie shows a photo:
You see a Santa, and various children sitting on his lap in a number of photos. Nothing interesting, bar one. There seems to be a photo of Santa with some of the staff of the mall. Sarah and Sally who are standing at the Service Counter and Phone store are both there. As is Merrick, the book seller just near by you. There a few more people you don't recognise yet, but may well be around the mall. The one that stands out is a security guard, and he is interesting. He is standing right next to Blitzen, and his hand seems to be going into Blitzen's side as though Blitzen isn't even there.
Merrick takes a look at the photo on the back of the camera, and immediately recognises it from a staff function a few days ago. The Santa's grotto had just been setup for the upcoming Christmas festivities. If asked, he would have told you October was too soon for such things to be set up, but management like convincing people to start buying gifts as early as possible. Especially a full month and a half before the sales start. But as he scans the photo, he stalls as he sees Marcus the security guard. That's when he stammers.
"Where on earth? How on earth? How did you get this?"
Charlie briefly explains that the photo was still on the camera from the grotto. And then asks about who Marcus is and how his arm is in the reindeer.
Merrick, turning slightly pale, as first seems resistant to answer, but still looks at the camera saying "Yeah, that is Marcus alright".
Marcus was a security guard here. He died last year in an accident. He died on the roof of this very building. There are rumours he was murdered, but well, the official report is he fell. The roof of the building is in two layers. There's a lower area that covers most of the building, and an upper area with a helicopter landing pad. The poor guy appears to have tripped and fallen from the upper level.
Charlie replies with one word: "Rumours?"
Merrick expands slightly with "Well, we all heard the security recordings. Marcus was on the roof reporting back that the helicopter area was clear. It's not obvious if he was just doing regular checks, or looking for something specific while he was up there. The story we heard was that it was part of his routine to make sure no debris was left on the landing area. Safety protocol or sommat like that. He died shortly after giving an 'All Clear'" but there were no witnesses. No cameras up on the roof that I know of."
