My last game, I didn't vote very often. I would FOS people to a point where my FOS's would accumulate enough to warrant a vote. This was construed as scummy, wishy-washy behaviour.

Apart from the fact it was blatamtly obvious, do you not think I would have voted if I was being serious?

I like how the votecount is given in a post because it shows the current votecount at a particular moment in time. Alot of other games, the mod posts it at the top of the page which I find a bit annoying when reading back to keep track of where the votes lie. If ever I mod a game, this is how I'll do it

I think he ment I voted you...

and I think there is enough of a conversation running to stop RVs, also, I do not want Elennaro to be lynched accidentally, so I'll

With nine players alive, you need give to lynch.

In order to lynch, you need a majority of votes on someone. Hopefully someone you find scummy.

The vote count shows the players name then who is voting for them in parenthesis.

Please, ask any questions you need to to the IC's.

That's a backtracking scum if I ever saw it.

You better have a good explanation.
Nothing out of the ordinary here. As I see it GIEFF was having a joke, I found it pretty funny but I am just simple. Xtoxm replies asking for an explanation, what I find particularly weird is urielzyx defended him. GIEFF then said nothing more on the subject. I understand the whole thing was in jest but it is the only thing as of yet which had me thinking so I thought I would post it :P

Thanks for the information ClockworkRuse. I usually ask the mod because I am playing in a really fun mini, all of the other players have the "mafia scum" tag underneath there names so there was no defined IC's, so I ask the mod.

Yeah, I didn't respond to Xtoxm because I knew that he was obviously joking, too.

But seriously, I'm not voing to random vote because I don't think it's necessary. Groupthink is dangerous in this game; you can't allow your thoughts to be steered by others, because some of the others are bad guys trying to manipulate you.

The way to win is with logic, not emotion, and random voting seems like more of the latter than the former.

For some reason, I get a scummy vibe from this post. It feels like Ham is trying to warn their scum partner of what had happened in the past to them.

No, it's not. It's a decision you make to get a discussion going, which is good for the town, as logic needs information to be applied to.

I say we have a party while he's gone.

Gieff and Elen do both have valid points to some extent.

Random voting is just as standard really, you shouldn't think much of it. There's nothing wrong with not random voting, either. Note I didn't.

But what I really wanted to comment on was the logic thing. Yes, there is logic in mafia, with use of power roles etc - But largely, I believe Mafia is not a game of logic. Emotion is often a factor, I find. Although yes, random voting doesn't get you far on it's own, it's just a starter really, nothing more.

Good point. Logic on it's own is a bit powerless, because the mafia can do the reverse of what you'd expect them to do, just to confuse you. I believe it's called WIFOM or something like that?

That is correct.

When I was newbie found the best approach was to ingore the concept of WIFOM altogether and just go for getting reads off of what people said.

Thinking about WIFOM and trying to apply it to a situation in the game generally just leads no where and gives you a headache, I find.

The random voting is necessary because it is what sparks the discussion for the rest of the game. Without the RVS, how are you supposed to start questioning someone?

Hey Z, are you scum? - No.

Alright... Hey B, are you scum?

See the point? At least some people have to go through the RVS.

Xtoxm, I've seen people get in trouble for not voting in the RVS so I'm not too sure about saying it's perfectly alright that you don't to it.

There have been games that started perfectly fine without random voting. It is by no means necessary for discussion to start. People just do it because it's always done.

Your example is horribly inaccurate by the way, that is just one of many possibilities, I could say the same about random voting:

Vote A because I don't like your av.

Vote B because you smell.

Uhhh...So what do we do now?

It's the exact same example as yours, and it's horribly inaccurate.

We missed you very much, Uri. We didn't do anything without in your abscene. We just sat around looking at each other glumly, waiting for your return.

I agree that the disussion about RV is unlikely to be very productive, but I felt the need to get my point across.
