Move d4

What happened to the plan of developing our pieces?

I see nothing that d4 gives us. Given the position of certain pieces on the right side, though, I think advancing that rook's pawn could give us a significant boost.

h4 is incredibly naive for me. Black has the chance to mobilise more materiel quicker on the kingside. White's position is somewhat cramped on the kingside if you push ahead.

Besides, h4 really takes away the initiative from our hands. In my mind, it's one of those 'Oh, what could've been' moves that may result in White having to resort to a lynch to win.

Black can't move either bishop or either rook, and if he moves that knight there's an obvious counter. It's ok to be a bit cramped if there's no threats.

h4 will likely lead to gxh3, gxh3, which ruins our queenside pawn structure and undoubles their pawn.

. I don't get h4. d4 puts a pawn in the center, protected, and makes us able to move our bishop, after which we can rook on the left side.

Gorrad has been most scummy in the last few moves, since it doesn't benefit the chess game to lynch, we'll just have to ignore him.

Move d4

for basically the reasons Lawrencelot said. It centralizes a pawn and opens up the diagonal to get our bishop out and give us the chance for a queen side castle.

I also like b3, which gives us Bb2 into O-O-O.

I'm not a fan of h4 at all really. It doesn't directly impact the game or advance any strategy for winning that I can see.

I can get on-board with d4, since it opens up the center, and grabs some space.

For some reason, d4 doesn't rub well with me. It seems too obvious a move to play. However, I do like Nd4.

I don't like Nd4 because it reduces our power in the center, rather than bolstering it. I would think in such an open setup, taking control of the center is even more essential than usual. d4 helps in this goal.
