i don't really agree with the votes on merlyn. nothing she's done is super strong town to me. the explanations i've seen are her RCE vote being bad - which i don't agree with, for reasons i think i've gone over already - and her mixing up printing press and trading post in 33, which isn't convincing to me either. roden said her read on marci in 319 is tmi and that's probably the most convincing argument to me, because i think that's a line of thinking that can work, but i'm not convinced the read is actually a good example of that because i also think marci is towny and while i'm not sure i'd word it in the exact same way, her attitude and general confident aura is a major reason i think that.

i like her read on rce in 319 - it's something i've thought about too. maybe scum could come up with it, but it's a good observation in my opinion which makes it more likely she's town thinking critically about the game

regarding roden, i don't really have a read on him yet. i'd be interested to hear people's roden thoughts. a lot of his posts are mech stuff (most of which i don't agree with at all, but that's probably nai). i guess i'd like to hear why he voted merlyn in the first place given his poking at her was for posts made after his vote

I’m not viewing the game the way you would, so telling people where their vote should be isn’t my thing.

I’m not that concerned about merlyns read on me. I’m used to people seeing unpopular Mech plans come from me and gut reaction being that it’s scummy. Which is probably a mix of me not fleshing out my thought process or it being more convoluted than I’m able to explain properly. On top of me not really being a strong Mech player.

And that could come from scum sure, but I KNOW that it comes from town a lot so I’m not reading them pushing me directly as anything alignment indicative.

They backed off when I got deeper into it, or realized they couldn’t justify the thought process as scummy in context. Which is fine, I think they are still keeping an eye on me which leans townish.

Also I did have Merlyn townie early and it was really only based interactions with aureal and my read on aureal is still purely tone based. I didn’t write it down anywhere but Merlyn slipped for me somewhere around page 10 (can’t tell you why exactly off the top of my head) but it made me feel better about aureal in the same way that drew/cakes situation made me feel better about cakes and worse about drew.

I have Merlyn as somewhat solid townie, was just scum with her and there seems to be more conviction in her play here, she was kinda wishy washy as scum. Same as you I don't get the votes on her.
