How on earth can anyone "locktown" anyone day 1 unless they are masons or they are scum.

It isn't helpful ruling someone put on day 1 when everything is a crapshoot

I have done it in many games and never once regretted it (there were a few times I locktowned someone early and they were scum, but they lost their "locktown" status before the end of the day). But calling someone locktown is a way to start a process of elimination which at one point will lead you to finding scum.
