I think, if there is a cop in this game, the cop should claim and we should elect him dictator and have him stay dictator as long as possible.

Power Role-Fishing. I think there's much better options than having our cop claim.

Such as?
Electing the most pro-town player dictator.
What a copout, no pun intended.
Seems like I said the same thing in 84...

If there are much better options, by all means share them, no need to criticize an idea you may not have thought as far through as the person that presented it, without having something better to put on the table.
Is there a better place for our cop to be sitting than behind a bulletproof vest where he can more safely perform his investigations and openly share his results with the town?

Yes. Anyplace but roleclaimed. We need our best(or at least a good) townie to be dictator, if our worst player ended up being cop, we'd be screwed.

Why would you assume our cop is our worst player? I would like to hear what the rest of the town thinks of this, because thinking it through I have not thought of anything better, nor has anyone offered anything better yet.
Let me ask you this.
Which would you rather have as dictator?
1. our worst player cop behind a bulletproof vest at night getting to share his investigation results from the night openly with the town at the start of the next day
2. an accidentally elected scum killing his pick of the town in the day and then getting to kill another townie at night
You pretty much saying, as I paraphrase, "your ideas suck and there are much better ideas but I either don't have any better or I ain't wilin' to share any of them" is not really pro-town.

I'd rather have 3) a good townie elected dictator. Sure, there is the possibility of electing scum, but if the dictator kills a townie or doesn't do what the majority wants, then they can be overthrown. I'd rather put my faith in the competence of the whole town than the competence of a single townie. The flaw in your plan is that it hinges on 1) the cop being outed, and 2) The cop being in power the whole game, even if they are incompetent.

If the cop were a good or even our best player, would that change your opinion of having the cop claim and be elected dictator and stay there as long as possible?

Yes, of course, but there's no way to know that without the cop roleclaiming, which I am against because of aforementioned reasons.

Ok. You have yet to convince me of a better plan, but your stance on this one is clear now.

Do you have any specific suggestions that you feel will help us get the most pro-town player elected?

The better plan is to elect who we decide is the best pro-town player.

What criteria do you think we should use to help us make this decision?
Well, my criteria was to eliminate the players I knew I didn't want elected, and from the remaining people that ran pick the one who seemed most competent and pro town.
Just to let you know I'm still here and paying attention, but haven't had much time to post over the last few days - I'll post on Sunday though when i get in from work.

Allow me to begin by offering a belated welcoming of Jazzmyn! Honored gentlesir, ladyman, or exotic animal of undetermined age, I give kind kudos. I could see it being awkward to join a game part way through, so allow my kudos to relinquish your awkwardness!

Kind sir, are you post restricted or not? We ask because you type in a very formal fashion not normally exibited by our users, which you have done in each post.
Ah, this is why you were curious as to whether or not I was post restricted; my formalities. I promise that I have no post-related limitations. I chose to present myself in this way from the start. However, if my word does not suit you, which I cannot entirely blame you for considering the game we are playing, I can make a post that is utterly disgraceful. I can get into a habit of using contractions, generalizing genders, and present my ability to be informal: an ability I have not exercised yet (except for two instance of mine, where in one I forgot to include ladies and exotic animals when addressing all the players, and in the other I made use of the word "n008n355." (or some word to that effect)) Perhaps I could even use a malapropism every here and there. I am grievously sorry if I have gotten you all frustrated in trying to figure out if I was post-restricted or not. To be as precise as possible: I am most certainly not post-restricted.

Actually, replacing in on Day 1, Page 5 isn't awkward at all. It's a heck of a lot easier than replacing in on Day 3, Page 37 or some such. And you really need not 'guess' at my gender: I am female as indicated over to the left, right underneath my avatar, by the pink Venus symbol.
