quicklimming someone very early in d1 is not normal. I don't have enough familiarity with gera or hu to say whether they do it commonly for shits and giggles as town.

It's certainly not unknown. Wouldn't say it's common, at least it isn't common in the games I've played or looked at. Average is at least more than half the scheduled day.
