because they don’t know you’re disloyal, you could just start the next day like 'I feel like someone has something to share' and mafia wouldn’t risk hiding it probably

So you either get revealed as FN or find out a likely town member

I suppose in a simple normal game:
If only NK is town and someone claims vig and isn’t CCed, they’re telling the truth.
If two NKs, one of which is town, person who claims vig is telling the truth.
If one town NK and one maf NK person who claims to vig the maf is telling the truth

it's pretty useless actually, from my experience at least
You lose a member and you lose a NK on the town. You're at a pretty heavy disadvantage by doing it so unless you
really
benefit from it, it's worse than useless
If you have a scum vigilante vigging a team member must have something going for it
Scum vigilante? In a normal a wolf cannot be a vigilante. Unless you mean just the act of shooting a partner, in which.. no? Even if a mafia could be a vigilante, why would they throw away extra killpower for no real reason?
from the wiki:
" As of 31 October 2023, Non-Town Vigilantes are allowed in Complex Normal games."
I mean, maybe it's still not worth squandering a double kill, but still something fun to think about
