Minority report all over again.Mr. Flay wrote:With the timetravel factor, I wasn't certain, but I'm not at all certain we can lynch someone now for what they *might* do later.
That makes sense to me.Narn wrote:I would *THINK* that a dead person's motive is dead until they are brought back the life. I think the motive shuffling would be with 'alive' people.

The point of motive-shuffling is to not handicap the mafia by allowing information to be out there that wouldn't have been if the timeline had been played out under the new circumstances. It's a pretty big handicap if the town already knows you're mafia because it was revealed last time you died....
Current Official Vote Count:
LazMoth (2, StD, Stewie)
Uraj (1, Narninian)
Flay (1, Uraj)
Stewie (1, Coron)
StD (1, Roland)
Coron (1, Lazmoth)
Roland (1, bk)
5 to lynch.

I know this sounds scummy, but as much as I want to win, I'm more interested in the mechanics of the game (i.e. making sure the large game is playtested thoroughly). I expect (hope?) this'll be a fairly quick game, without a lot of the metaanalysis that slows down some regular games...
That being said, I'm having a hard time sorting out "IC" (In Character) behavior & flavor text from OOC analysis and game facts. Is lazmoth alluding to anything real about himself with his fortune-telling schtick, or is he just getting in the groove?
Hard to say and no, I'm not asking for a clarification from the mod on any of that, though I am as curious about the fate-of-dead-motives as anyone else. If the mod thinks that's too much to reveal, then I would *suspect* that they do not expire when the motive-holder dies, because of the statement "if everyone alive is on the same team, regardless of future actions).
::timetravel edit:: Wow, I didn't even see the third page...forgive my stupidity for the above paragraph...Last edited by Mr. Flay on Tue Feb 08, 2005 2:49 am, edited 1 time in total.Retired as of October 2014.-

As horrendous as it is for a mod to comment on a player's post with respect to the game, since this isn't an official game, you'll forgive me for doing so:
I agree with this sentiment. I have 2 goals for this game: 1) To get enough feel for the types of things that could go wrong so that I can fix them for the big game, and 2) To make sure you guys have fun play-testing it. So you're welcome to take whatever approach you'd like to the game, but given that dead people will almost certainly come back to life at least once, I also don't think it's necessary to agonize over each decision.Flay wrote:I expect (hope?) this'll be a fairly quick game, without a lot of the metaanalysis that slows down some regular games...

I'm just waiting for Laz to explain if he's an oracle or if he's a drunk.-

I think the first paragraph is random. Not sure about the second. What is a halitosis? Roland, I know you could help me here.Laz wrote:I don't need professors to lecture me on causality. I'm half-gypsy, half-Greek and I can tell the future using my truth-ball. And my truth-ball says that....*gaze gaze* Narninian is right. They are bandwagoning me for no reason whatsoever.
It also tells me that Stewie will have halitosis in the near future.
Coron has been away the second longest with professor Uraj leading the way.My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Whee, I'm quoting me:
= flavorI'm half-gypsy, half-Greek and I can tell the future using my truth-ball.
= real informationIt also tells me that Stewie will have halitosis in the near future.
Ok, seriously now. Since roles will be shuffled the next day, how about claims from everyone on what they could do? I'm not sure if this violates mod rules but from a player's perspective, it could be very helpful in gathering information and planning out strategies.
What do you guys think? There are so many questions I'd like to ask, but we are left watching the checkered board. Our eyes pass over the symmetry. I wish it were possible to achieve such mimicry, to move our pieces in peace ├óÔé¼ÔÇ£ my bishops to church, your wild horses to stable.-
