OhGodMyVillage is like most small, inconsequential villages on the edge of larger political entities. Except of course that this is MY village, not just any village, and here in my village we're running a little morally ambiguous social experiment called Mafia.

Setup:

This game uses the 9-player setup called F11, which consists of four possibilities:
- 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Townies.
- 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies.
- 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.
- 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Doctor, 6 Townies.

One of these was chosen totally at random, as were all role assignments.

, and you can protect people from harm. Each Night, you may send me a choice via PM of who to protect; if they come under attack by the Mafia, they will live. You win if the scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and try to lynch correctly during the Day.

Note: Doctors are 100% effective in Newbie Games (the person you protect will never die on the night they are protected), unless you are roleblocked. You may not protect yourself.

You are the

Cop

, and you can tell good from bad. Each Night, you may send a player's name to me; I will let you know if your investigation shows that they are Mafia or Town. You win if the scum are eliminated, so choose wisely at Night, and lynch well during the Day.

Note: Cops always get a correct result in Newbie Games (no sanity issues), unless you are roleblocked. You cannot investigate yourself.

You are a

Townie

, and you've got no special powers at Night. No investigations, no protection, no gun to shoot people. Your only powers are the ability to post, vote, and think. Help lynch Mafia during the Day, and you will win the game, along with the rest of the Town.

Even though many games start with Night, Newbie Games begin with Day once everyone has confirmed that they understand their role. Scum are allowed to talk by PM in the pre-game stage, but no other "night actions" may be taken.

Rules (Stolen from Mr. Flay and slightly edited):

• Votes must be in bold for them to count, like this:

  . Unvotes should also be bolded (

  ) so that I can spot them easier, but it's not required. Votes may specify a full username, or a shortened version, so long as its reasonably clear who is intended.

At dawn everyone meets as agreed in the town square. Everyone, that is, except for Mastin. Did he tire himself out talking so much yesterday? Checking in on him at home you find that is not the case, as he is slumped over his desk with a pool of dried blood around his head. And on the wall behind him is his framed diploma from the MafiaScum School of Medicine.

Harsh words are exchanged. Santos decides to prove his point with actions instead of words. Placing his own head in the noose, he proves once and for all the the tensile strength of the rope is enough to support his weight. Unfortunately the same was not true of his neck, which snaps after a short drop.

With so few townspeople left alive on the third day of this nightmare, xRECKONERx is getting jumpy, and he's the first to point fingers. Pacing back and forth, he grabs a hold of Scien, ranting and raving about how he drove the only cop in town to suicide, but calmer heads convince him to release his hold.

Everyone breathes a sigh of relief, but it doesn't relieve any of the tension in the group - there are still two killers here. Before long, xRECKONERx is stomping around mumbling to himself again, and this time he rounds on MiteyMouse, the quietest girl in town, demanding she speak up or face the noose.

Realizing the only way to stop xRECKONERx from destroying the town with impatience was to act himself, Scien grabs hold of his top suspect Henrz and drags him to the gallows, shouting 'Will anyone help me?!'

Of course, Papa Zito and MiteyMouse are only too happy to help. Henrz feet are still kicking feebly in the air as he futilely tries to draw breath against the noose by the time Papa Zito and MiteyMouse stroll out of town, leaving the bodies of xRECKONERx and Scien with shock etched into their faces.

Overall I think this was a well played game, aside from Santos' shenanigans. I hope he can learn from this experience and in his next game come at things with a cooler head. Sometimes all it takes to get a new perspective on a game and not blow your top is a five minute break.

Papa Zito in particular deserves accolades for his performance, as I think you'll all agree. MiteyMouse in this game is proof that, while lurking is not always indicative of scum, it is exceptionally dangerous to let someone get away with it for too long. Sometimes a lurker just needs a little bit of pressure to get them back in line, or to get them to crack.

All in all I think you guys are more than ready to move out of the newbie forum if you haven't yet. If you don't like the idea of complicated themed games there's still mini normals, and if you're interested in a bigger game I'll be modding a large normal in the near future (I'm next in the modding queue), and I'd love to see any of you there.
