Everyone should use this time to post thoughts and observations about the game. Ask questions and try to figure out what went wrong (and right) with your play and how you can learn from it and improve. Be polite in pointing out mistakes made by others! Conversely, if someone points something out, learn from it – don’t get offended!!
My Observations
:
I would like to propose a counter-argument to the "replacements lost the game for the Town" theory. This quote by Korts sums it up in a nutshell:
Korts wrote:Very good point about Infinis' Day 2 play, Ojanen. With that,
I'm convinced of Ojanen being town as well; scum wouldn't validate a cop-claim with citations of previous play.
So the scum, it seems, is one of semioldguy and Starbuck.
Why not? Apparently that's exactly what he did. You effectively WIFOM'd yourself into declaring Ojanen Town, and by giving him a free pass there, you completely ruled him out for Day 4. That's why you switched to semi at the last minute, because your "gut" feeling was tainted by that one thought. Even with the bad case he brought against semi, you were effectively blind because of the free pass you gave him.
NO ONE should get a free pass unless they are confirmed innocent. It's probably the hardest endgame skill to develop, but when one vote means losing, you're best served by developing the ability to think critically and without any emotional bias about the cases. Sometimes your gut is 100% spot on, but sometimes you contaminate your gut by making bad assumptions and it follows through, maybe not consciously, but it does have an effect. That's exactly what happened here.
When I saw Korts make that statement, I knew the game was over.
Not taking anything away from Ojanen, he did a fantastic job. But a town win was definitely possible.
