I totally get what you are saying, but according to my count there are six votes on me, four people are not voting, 11 needed to lynch. I'm voted on because I suggested to pressure the non-voters to vote.
There's no progress because the people on my wagon would have to ask the non-voters to vote which would render their reason to vote for me moot. This is too ironic to claim on just six votes.

Esme: as STD most of your bandwagon is just that. I think the other (and why I was voting for you for a while) was the timing of your attack on "non voters", not the specific sentiment -- there's a huge difference between saying "no bandwagon? X has never voted, why don't we go for her" and "instead of this 6 person bandwagon, why don't we go after sone of the non-voters".

Not to say that you said either, but just pointing out that the -timing- of an attack has as much to do with its reception as its nature -- at least for me, the four biggest scum indicators are Role (ie, a conflict of clamed role or someone fingering you due to a power from their role -- iow, you being caught dead to rights), Connection (seeming connected to other players and trying to hide it), Defensiveness (caring more about defense than trying to winnow out scum; trying to find a scapegoat who isn't you), and Lying.

In this case, there was a possible Connection, the only reason I think the esme bandwagon has any legitimacy at all.

Save The Dragons wrote:Actually, when I first saw the name, I thought it was "es me" which is "it is me" or "is me" in spanish (although I don't think that's proper grammar).

Esme, it looks like your a casualty of the bandwagon. Occasionally, people decide to put thier votes on someone for any reason they can find. It's why BJ has his sig. It doesn't look like a defence is going to help (when does it ever?), so I would say you may need to claim, or at least hint at your role.
I actually thought the same thing about her name, also I will second Esme's need to claim.

My bad about the guy thing esme .. I normally do check things like that. I used to get called she all the time when I first started here and I can see why it would bother you.

Anyways, back to the game .. I third a claim from Esme.

Um. FWIW...if you're already on the bandwagon, you're not in much of a position to call for a claim. It's those considering hopping onto it who have a good case for that.

I mean, like, what's the threat here? "If you don't claim, I'll vote for you even harder?"

Yes, I know, STD's call for claim was at least somewhat legitimate.

What can she do besides claim? it's not like the bandwagon is going to end with out it. People don't just back off for no reason.

I was not the first. Please don't second and third off of me, especially if you are voting esme. I'm in the "the only way you can appease these vicious people is by claiming" not the "you should claim, esme" camp.

Milkman: Why not? So you are so sure of esme's guilt that anything that she'll say short of claiming is evil?

The goal, people, is to kill the mafia while revealing AS LITTLE CLAIMS AS POSSIBLE. Don't give up. Don't waste it on unnecessary claims. Esme has explained her actions. I don't see why voting non-voters is anything but 1) a participation builder or 2) a misunderstanding.

I agree that claiming might be the only way to apease some of the esme-voters, but I am not sure this is a good idea. If she claims villager, they might just say "oh, then it's ok to kill him" and if she is something more powerful, maybe it is better to wait.
My gut feeling is that she is innocent, but I was wrong about her in Newbie 108, so I might be wrong again now. I prefer lynching CoolBot, but if it's either lynching esme or not lynching at all, then I prefer lynching esme. No player did anything really scummy.
This day is going on for much much too long and
we should converge toward a lynch.
I will keep my vote on CoolBot for now, but if I don't see this bandwagon going anywhere, I might switch to esme with hopes we are doing the right thing. A promise from dranko to investigate CoolBot might help.
I call everyone to either choose between esme and CoolBot or give a really conviencing reason about a third candidate. (hint: if people don't follow you, you are not conviencing).
I got 2 goodie points from Phoebus!

Yes, actually, they do. You see, if 50% of the town doesn't agree with a bandwagon, it doesn't happen, and eventually the proponents go off somewhere else. A bandwagon either lynches or loses traction.

STD: apologize for taking what people said at face value.

vote: milkman

The "what can she do? She has no hope except to claim" garbage seems more a scum indicator than anything else. And he pointed the req to claim at STD. And the "no lynch" thing (though that feels like an honest mistake).

I can't help but find Stam suspicious as well.

I'm going to
unvote, vote: stam

There is never a good reason to try and speed up the day, if it lags in participation we get deadlines. That's what they're for. As long as people are participating overall, discussion helps the town. Wanting to end that discussion doesn't help the town.

Unvote; Vote: esme
