Thanks RPG, that's exactly what I did when I first found the topic but so far haven't received any notifications - not even my role PM notification. :(

It's ok, I'll just have to check in more regularly. :)

Watched Topics isn't going to give you e-mail notifications. What it will do is put the topic on a list of topics that you are, well, watching! :P To access your Watched Topics, just click the top-left-most link from the list of links at the top of every page, by the Mafiascum banner.

I know there's an option somewhere to subscribe to a thread, which does send you e-mail notifications. I don't use it, though, so I'm not sure how to access it. Maybe our lovely and fantastic Mod can tell you, if he knows.

Profile > Preferences Section > Always notify me of replies:

I'm not sure it actually works though. I don't use it. You're supposed to be posting once every 48 hours, at a minimum, so you should be checking the thread regularly anyway.

On-topic, I'm not too concerned about the wagon that formed. If this was the old Newb set-up (7 players), I'd be a lot worse, since it would have been Lynch-1 (1 vote away from a lynch), but with 2 votes still left before a lynch, I don't think there was that much of a threat of a premature lynch, especially not without a scumbag (read: Mafia) exposing themselves.

Mod: Just doing some math now, and it looks likely that a deadline (for a future day) may fall somewhere in the holliday period. Will there be a possible extension in such a case, or no?

Maybe. We'll see what happens when it gets here. You guys could always talk a lot now and make a decision before the deadline comes (I know, radical thought process there, forgive me). :D

What's wrong with wagoning on the first page? There really is no point on just having 1 or 2 votes on everyone.

Because at this point, we have no evidence of any kind
to indicate who is scum.
The townies will try to figure out who seems the scummiest
through discussion and the way people vote.

Scum, on the other hand, will gain from an early lynch,
as this means less discussion and most likely one less townie.
If any pro-town reaches L-1 there is the possibillity of a scum
quick-hammering.

If I had placed him at L-1 it would be a different story. L-2 is nothing.
If someone quick-hammers they're scum and'll be lynched the next day.

I still see nothing to suggest quickly placing someone at L-2 is scummy at all. He's not going to be quick lynched.

Why do I think a quick L-2 and Wagon so early is scummy?

Well, as Kami says, if you are town, and assuming that the other two voters think it's clever to wagon (or don't remove their vote for whatever reason), putting someone at L-2 will allow the scum to quick lynch.

Boom and we've lost a townie.

By you putting the L-2 on makes me think that you are scum, pushing the wagon, suggesting other players (1 scum, 1 town) lynch making you look like town and pointing the FOS at the players that lynched. Does that make sense? I have tried to re-write it 4 times - apologies I have had three teeth removed today and not sure that I am thinking straight.

So why did you put up a vote for someone in the first place if all you wanted to do was wagon? Or by the sounds of it, hammer without looking like youre hammering.

It's interesting how quick you did this in RvS, still. And given this quote, you sure are putting yourself in a deep hole.

So i'm at L-2, what do I have to defend? an RvS? You actually have more to defend by wagoning then by me being at L-2... and you're not being very convincing. So where's the smart town play in that? Either way you look at it, it looks like you're covering up scum at the very least.

Guys. Seriously, cool off a bit. It was L-2. That's it. There's no way 2 Town would place L-1 and hammer votes, so there was no danger of a lynch.

You guys are massively overreacting here.

A couple of things for info:

1. Although I have played MS on here before it was over two years ago. I haven't played anywhere since but am back and playing now. :)
2. I am not receiving topic reply notifications from the forum so apologise if I miss a few posts. Yes, the option is ticked. I try to check in lunchtime and evening daily but it won't always be possible.

I don't think it is possible that you are at L-2 on the first page, and we get two Town people not currently voting you, who decide to come in and vote you, without anyone currently voting you noticing this and unvoting.

Newbs games often end up with someone freaking out about a page 1 lynch that almost happened. Relax, you won't get lynched on page 1. And if you do, we'll nab the Scum for 'ya.

Is math needed when comparing two dates together? lol

OT:

I
hate
random voting BWs. I'd like all of you, Deer, jee and Ellibereth to reconsider this choice, seeing as lynching someone on page 2 isn't the smartest thing to do.

My suggestion: Start actually playing properly and extend a lynch until at LEAST page 10.

---

So, to get this game started, I'd like people to fill out this form:

Code: Select all

Previous experience with Forum Mafia:
What role do you prefer playing? (Mafia, Town power role, Vanilla Townie)
How active are you, on average: (Every 24 hrs, 48 hrs, 72 hrs or more seldomly)

I'll start:
Previous experience with Forum Mafia: About 10 games
What role do you prefer playing? Mafia by far
How active are you, on average: In all my games I've posted on average about 1-3 posts per 24 hrs.

---

Note to self: Of Deer, jee, Ellibereth, 1-2 is most likely scum. In this case, the latter is the highest suspect.

How am I overreacting at all? I'm saying I liked the wagon. To be honest, I looked at ths screen for quite a while last night, contemplating if I wanted to place a fourth vote.

Darklight:
Saying there's 1-2 Scum in the 3 people that put together a small wagon on the first page is insane. As I've said (and you know I'm one of the more aggressive players here), there was literally no threat of a lynch, unless the Scum came out and told us they were Scum, and lynched RPG.

I also have school, so I'll be missing lots of morning/afternoons. Sorry about that.

But I wasn't expecting a bandwagon after my vote...it was just a random one. Wagoning for no apparent reason is pretty scummy to me, but I'll keep my eyes open and watchful.

I forgot to add this on to my previous post:

As Sens said, this seems unfair. Besides Ellibereth, who might just be new and have little experience, me and jee have done little to show ourselves as scum. My reason for voting RPG was just as legitimate as your reason for voting for SensFan, and jee's, while it may have been a slight bandwagon, also appeared to be random. I will UNVOTE: to save RPG for now, but your FOS's are based on really nothing.

Also, I'll fill out your form:
Previous experience with forum mafia: none, but I have experience with other forms of mafia
Preferred role: Cop!
How active: Like I said, I'll be missing mornings/afternoons, but I should be fairly active during the day.

DarkLightA -

Previous experience with Forum Mafia: This will be my third game online. (I've played many a game in person)
What role do you prefer playing?: I actually prefer town. You get to play detective without having to worry about the consequences of dying. Town are more expendable than the doctor or cop.
How active are you, on average: I look at the board a couple times a day, but I may not post everyday. I try to, but I'm not very good at formulating arguments via a keyboard. I'm much better in face-to-face.

...and if I may throw my two-cents in this division on whether putting someone on L-2 is bad or not. I personally don't feel that's it bad to put someone on L-2, even this early. Somebody has to die sooner or later. Would it be better to lynch later, maybe. But at the same point, it gives the mafia more time to manipulate what little facts really do come out early.

I have to agree with SensFan's logic on this issue...but only his logic. I'm a little skeptical of Mr. Sens defensive attitude. He did seem a little anxious to pull the attention away from Eli. It there was no danger of a quick lynch, Eli should have had ample time to defend his actions. (Which he kinda did in Post 32, two posts before Sens interjected in Post 34)
This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

It is a important, and popular fact, that things are not always as they seem...
