Don't you hate it when life gets really busy in a bunch of ways at once? Like you've got a huge deadline coming up at work, Trolls start stealing the housepets in your neighborhood for food and you've got to be part of the patrol that hunts them down, you find out that not only is your long lost brother still alive but he's coming to stay with you for the next week and the mafia just won't stop bugging you to repay the money that you borrowed to build the Olympic sized swimming pool in your backyard?
Yeah, I hate that too. I tell you what, let's deal with the mafia part of that by having you lynch them. You're on your own with your brother.

Game Rules (modified from Vel-Rahn Koon’s rules):
General Gameplay and Etiquette:
You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it. Mafia members may communicate at night and during the confirmation stage or the first 24 hours after roles are sent out (whichever is longer.)
If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline. If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions.
Roles with Night actions will not be able to submit an action on Night 0 (i.e. during the confirmation stage).
Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the Mod know that you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
As a general rule you should aim for one post every 48 hours, minimum, to keep the game moving.
Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
A simple majority of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to occur
Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.
Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
Please submit votes as:
Vote: PlayerName
.
Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold! Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
Please submit vote revocations as either
Unvote: PlayerName
or
Unvote
. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
You may
Vote: No Lynch
- a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to Night phase without a lynch.
This game will have 3 week deadlines. At deadline, the player (or No Lynch) with the most votes will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the tie breaker will be the player who has the first active vote on them. Should there be no active votes at deadline no one will be lynched.
Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent.
Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
Green
text is reserved for the Mod. No invisible/small text is allowed.
If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately. Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
Prods of missing players will be issued automatically after 72 hours of no activity or upon request after 48 hours of no activity. A prodded player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement. A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement without further notice.
Rules violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.
If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread.
Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
The Golden Rule:
Please remember that this is a game and your main objective is to have fun! Be considerate of each other, don’t get personal, and enjoy the game.

The F11 setup is the current game format used in Newbie games. To prevent the development of game-breaking strategies, these Newbie Games are Semi-Open. The actual game setup is randomly chosen from one of four possible setups as detailed below:
If either of the first two setups are in play, and the situation occurs where the Goon is lynched first, the Roleblocker will still be able to submit both night kills and roleblocks (roleblocking is a function of the Roleblocker; night kills are a function of the scum team as a whole).
These are the Role PMs that have potentially been sent to the players:
You are a member of the Mafia along with your partner, <name>, a <Mafia Goon or Mafia Roleblocker>. Your current task is to eliminate the town before they lynch you by killing them at night and getting them lynched during the day.
During the day, try to blend in with the normal Townies, and attempt to get someone lynched.
During the NIGHT cycle ONLY, you may talk with your fellow Mafia (via PM) and choose another player in the town to kill that night.
You may communicate privately with your fellow Mafia up until the game thread is opened. Once the game begins, all outside communication must cease until the night cycle.
You win when the number of Mafia equals or exceeds the number of remaining Town players, whether you survive to the end or not.

As a Roleblocker, you have the ability to distract any player throughout the night, effectively negating their night ability, if they have one.
Send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to block. If they have a Night action, it will have no effect. You will not be informed as to whether your roleblock worked or not.

You are the local law enforcement, and can tell the good guys from the bad.
Each NIGHT, you may send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to investigate.
The Moderator will inform you as to that person’s guilt or innocence.
At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
In a Newbie game, you will always get a correct result (no sanity issues) provided you are not roleblocked (if you are roleblocked you will get no result.)
You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.
You are the local physician, and can protect people from harm.
Each NIGHT, you may send the moderator a PM with your choice of player that you want to protect.
If someone attempts to kill that player during the Night, they will be spared.
You may not protect yourself.
At no time may you privately communicate with any other player.
In a Newbie game, your protection target will always live through the night (no quacks) provided you are not roleblocked (if you are roleblocked your protection will not work.)
You win when all the Mafia players are gone, whether you survive to the end or not.

Roles have now been sent out to all the players. We are in the confirmation phase. Please confirm in the thread when you have read and understood both your role and the rules for the game. If you have any questions about your role or the rules please PM Zorblag. Day one will start once everyone has confirmed.
Mafia members have until 4:00 PM EST/1:00 PM PST on Sunday, November 29th or until the confirmation stage is done (whichever happens later) to communicate to each other at the start of the game. After that they may not communicate privately until Night One.

So first of all I have to apologize for the way to lax modding during the first day. My life had gotten particularly busy and I didn't have time to be on at all. Fortunately you guys did fine without me and there were no major issues that came up during that stretch. Here were the night actions from everyone over the course of the game:
The mafia did a nice job of using their roleblocks but it ended up being part of the way that the town managed to figure them out. I'm tempted to say that it's a good idea to roleblock (or kill) the same person each night in a given game to avoid situations like this but that's been my opinion since I started playing here and I've never really talked about it with others or seen major discussion about it here on the site so I don't want to make that sound like standardly accepted wisdom.
The town power roles also did a nice job with who they attempted to investigate and protect. Had it not been for the roleblocker either of the two should have made a large impact on the game on their own.
The biggest problem that I had with anyone's gameplay was CSL's self hammer. In this case it probably didn't make that much of a difference as Jackabomb was going to hammer anyhow but town should really never self hammer in this setup unless it's a choice between self hammering and a no lynch. There was plenty of time before deadline and it's much better to try to talk yourself out of the situation so that you're not sure that you're losing a town role if you've got any chance of doing it. The self hammer (and serious self voting in general) also takes some information away from the town about what others would do in most situations.
Past that it was a quick game. It could have seen some more participation from dimaba and I agree that cades could have been more proactive. I was surprised that the scum didn't do more fake claiming in LyLo (incidentally, there probably should have been a mass claim right off the bat there though in this case it didn't cause the town any extra confusion that it happened how it did.) Crimmy didn't seem to fully grasp the implications of what the claim meant but that didn't hurt things in the end anyhow.
It was a pleasure working with all of you. Thanks to everyone who played through the game and to Kyiv for being willing to jump in as the one needed replacement this game. This is the fewest replacements I've seen in a newbie game that I've been a part of and it's a lovely change.
If anyone has particular questions I'm happy to try to answer them. Otherwise best of luck to everyone in their future games!

@Kyiv, there are a couple potential situations when it is in scum's best interest to self hammer to end discussion. The times when it's the right move for town are rarer but they do exist (I almost had one come up in Newbie Game 853 which ended recently. I was scum there but the advice that I gave starting in Post 323 is something I believe to be true (I couldn't lie about theory like that in my IC for the game and that sort of deception isn't how I play my scum games anyhow.)
If nothing else a self vote or a self hammer in a newbie game will hopefully teach players not to do it in the future for other games.

@Kyiv, I suspect you'd be fine as an IC though the two games I've seen you in clearly you've had very short stints. As for holding the self hammering against people, it's a situational thing. I wish CSL hadn't done it here and I hope that he won't do it in the future but unless I see evidence that he's going to do it again I'm not to worried about it. As long as I don't think the person should have known better and I don't think they'll do it again I'm not going to be that irate about it most of the time.
