Hello guys! Happy to be here.
I gave the thread a light read-through last night, but will be reading more critically on my second time through. That's how I usually read when I get serious anyway: once for plot and a second time for deeper meaning.
I'll have more to say in a bit =)I'm a chocoholic. I just can't live without that chocohol!-

Most of you are doing a player-by-player analysis, and I may do one of those later. Right now I want to get down my initial reactions I would have felt, in chronological order, if I were here from the beginning. This may be long, so I apologize in advance I would much prefer to have posted throughout the past 14 pages in little bite-sized chunks!
Page 1 - 4
As others have already stated, Ray is certainly very hyperactive and erratic. From the beginning his activity attracted the accusations of many people hunting for scum or otherwise. His posts made up the majority of the first four pages and people accuse him of being scum due to rolephishing (Skill), vote switching (Prana), being too defensive (jmurph3), having something to hide because he talks too much (redbox), hyperactive posting style (kelyn), repetition of his supposed town alignment and accusing 3 people in 2 pages (Apathy).
Out of all these 'reasons' for suspecting him during pages 1-4, there is not a single one that I feel a real affinity to. First of all, I disagree with the ideas that defensiveness and hyperactiveness by themselves are scumtells.
To answer fuzzylightning's questions on pg. 5 (because it was directed at my player slot), I do not think kelyn's vote on PranaDevil was exactly 'random,' but I think the reason behind it has less to do with thinking PD was scum and more to do with wanting the topic to change so we can move on and search for reactions in other people besides Ray. The RVS probably ends around post #44 when Skill votes Ray, accuses him of rolephishing, and Ray places an omgus vote upon her. Although Skill's vote may be a joke, I don't think it is because she brings it up again later in the game.
There is not much weight behind Skill's accusation (is there ever any weight behind anything this early in the game?): Ray merely asked "I'm town, how about you?" and Skill replied "yes, i am town, it is much more disappointing than getting that cop pm." Skill is giving more information than was asked of her. At best, she is assuming his question held more meaning, and at worst she was deliberately trying to color him as scummy by answering as if he was referring to the role.
Then there's Apathy's terribad string of posts at the end of pg 4. I think Ray's over-reassuring affirmations that he is town during pregame are part of his joking manner. He was play-acting as if he's under intense pressure when he was obviously not (at the time). Thus, I think Apathy's post #94 has some of the worst reasoning so far. Apathy pulls Ray's words frompregameand posts about them on pg 4 afterfive other peoplehave put a little pressure on Ray. I think Apathy wants people to think Ray's only defense so far has been a constant reiteration of "I'm town!" when in fact he had a more substantial defense.
I find it interesting to note that fuzzylightning and Paltry are the only players who did not jump on Ray like the others did. I'm not sure if this should be attributed to style, experience, or something else.
I'll be able to continue more tomorrow.
Let me know if I should be more brief when I go over the rest of the pages-

I agree with fuzzy, I'd rather see you take your time and give everything as thorough a going over as you like. It'd better for all concerned (well, perhaps not scum) to get the best out of everything we can.
Although I have to say that's a very daunting task to be going through it all like that (I tried it properly yesterday, and it's tough).
As for fuzzy's comment on jammer, we're all relying on your input to find scum, if nobody gave any input everyone would wind up like me, focused on a single person and attempting to lynch at all costs while never changing their view based on what others manage to bring to the table.
But if someone's basically not bringing anything to the table, they're hiding away information that they have which is useful to the town, which is definitely anti-town, and therefore scummier than trying to rat out scum.-

Awww, loosen up, pops! It's possible the lovely lady and myself won't be alive come the morrow, so at least let me enjoy it while I can!PranaDevil wrote:Bad Ray, no flirting with people mid scum hunt, down boy!
And like jmurph I too am awaiting on Phaen's read, along with Skill's now. Hopefully it will bring more discussion forth.
I look forward to phaen and skill reading.
I also look forward to apathy replacement happening already.don't you feel silly now?-

hello, Phaen. Must be rough replacing, many of the posts are pretty lengthy. Seeing as how it is rough, I would like to give you time to read through everything and post your reactions, so I'll hold off on comments/questions for your post (for now).
Sorry, I totally missed this @_@jammer wrote:Skill, do you have any idea who the mafia is?
Hmm...I'm actually having a really tough time deciding who is scum and who is not. With that said, I would have to aim suspicion at people who haven't been scum-hunting as much.
Non scum-hunters:
-redbox/phaen(not her fault yet, though)
-jmurph(voting and agreeing, not really scum-hunting)
-skill006(not that I am suspicious of myself, just, ye know)
redbox's posts still seem pretty scummy to me, but I'm starting to get some doubts...I want to hold off on my read for just a little longer.
jmurph's opinions/playstyle/defenses are easily swayed by many of the people who attack her. She also seems unsure of how to scumhunt. I could see her being newb scum, who needs a BW to jump on.
For now:FoS:jmurph
Question: Now that your argument on RayFrsot is dead, who do you find most suspicious? And how are you going to defend yourself against the 3 people voting you?
I've since changed my opinion onfuzzylightning. It took a little while, but I think I understand his way of scum hunting. All the same. Still, it's not very helpful when we don't know what's going through his mind (we know he's suspicious of jmurph).
Question: Is there anyone else you are suspicious of, fuzzy, besides jmurph?
RayFrosthas picked up a spear and is basically stabbing everyone's cases against him. Its almost as if he wants his attackers to look like scum who don't know what they are talking about.
PaltryexcuseI'm not sure of your read on redbox. When you said this:
You said you thought that this might make him town, but its possible that his scum buddy is non violently agreeing with the crowd (after all, there is only one vote on him). What is your read on him?pe wrote:The part that has me concerned is the sudden 'everybody finds him scummy'.
RayFrost and Skill were the first two to find him suspicious, and really don't constitute jumping on this nearly voteless bandwagon.
However, after Skill makes her comment on finding redbox scummy:
Prana, jmurph and fuzzy all chime in soon after with scummy reads on redbox as well.
Skill's post was 259, while Fuzzy was the last one on post 281. In 22 posts, Redbox = universally found scummy. Suspicious = yes. (Though obviously not all 3 could be scum.)
Plus, of the 5 who expressed this view, 3 are on my top 3 scum list. It's just negative feelings all round and gives me more of a town read on redbox.
The only person who had a post during this small stretch and didn't point at redbox was jammer. For me, I just went to sleep and redbox was found scummy by nearly all.
=.= uhh...too much hw nagging at me to write any more...already spent 4 hours pondering over this post...and sorry to make you all wait for this thingy...-

No! Of course not!Skill006 wrote:
So you can make fun of me XDYou are always worth waiting for, sugar.
It's because of how enjoyable it is to read your lovely writing, M'Lady. *bows*
Anyway, my destroying cases against me is cuz I'm awesome, not because I think the individuals are scum. being wrong != being scum. I was merely crushing the opposition underneath my ice cold boots. If I wanted my attackers to look like scum, I'd just make a case against them that isn't directly reliant upon their attacks on me (a la redbox).
The rest of the post is :goodposting:don't you feel silly now?-
