Before I support it, some conditions:
A)We only claim name.
B)We do it by dice tag order.

Thoughts?

Then a week goes by and it goes untouched
Then two, then three, then a month
Then the rest of your life, you beat yourself up

1 is exactly fine.

2 I'd prefer popcorn style (it also gives some interesting possible information based on who picks who). Completely randomized loses some information, but it could be done that way if others agree.

What are the benifits of popcorn? I would think in this situation we want scum having as little control over the order as possible?

So scum choose other scum? Do they choose townies?

Its just part of the game, it forces an interaction and those interactions can be analyzed when there is more information.

My point is that
if
it's good for scum, they will agree to it. And I think that a name claim is more likely to be game "breaking" for the scum than town.

I understand why you're wary of my numbers, and expected to take a bit of flak for it. But I really don't think now is the right time for a name claim. As if you didn't know already, but
Nay to name claim.
If it does happen, popcorn.
Yes, my fake claim is Innocent Aligned with the Town win condition as per the mod's first post.

P.S. This assumes popcorn begins with a randomly generated player.

Random or the group decides by majority, either is fine by me.

unvote

Didn't realize Bog had so many votes on him. As my vote was half random and only left on because of reactions I'm going to take it off for now until I re-evaluate if I want to push or not.

Also, just to clarify. The initial claimer will be chosen at random, using random tags (which is awesome, the site I was from never let you use random tags). Once that person claims, they will nominate the next person to claim, who will claim and nominate and so on.
The claim will be purely character name, no PRs.

And if I see the Mountain that Rides, my vote will fly hard and fast (probably not, but I've loved hating that character)

Um... okay then. First, I just want to point out that Kinetic still has not addressed the issue of whether or not he believes prominent characters would have more powerful roles; which I think is a perfectly reasonable conclusion. Care to answer the direct question I asked you, Kinetic?

Let's all slow down a little on the Yay/Nay-ing here. Let us pretend for a second that less prominent characters might have more powerful roles. We still have no way to confirm or deny this at this juncture; but we might tomorrow after a couple people are dead when we see their names and roles. So I think it would be good to wait at least until tomorrow before continuing with any name claim discussion (other than Kinetic addressing the things he seems so adamant to ignore). If tomorrow Jamie Lannister turns up dead with a Vanilla Role I will reconsider my stance on the name claim. Once we name claim we can't ever put it back in the box, so waiting a day is the best move.

Nay
to name claiming.

In the meantime, I think Kinetic is the best lynch candidate at the moment since he is obviously selectively reading the thread to his agenda or to make others look scummy and continuing discussion that is not advancing the scumhunting one bit.

xvart.

Actually, while that question is fine to answer in hypotheticals...

And while I'm guilty of it as well, with me mentioning of Clegane and others...

I think we should stop listing characters now. All we're doing is providing scum with our expectations, so they can avoid scummy characters, and claim, for example, Hodor.

Yes, it's likely that at least one scum has read the books, its probable that all scum have read the books (I mean, they're freaking good books), so yes, it's likely that they all know the characters. But by listing what level of character (in plot importance) we expect is giving information to the scum.

So, FOS:The next person to give hypothetical characters

I answered that question, even if Kinetic didn't. I claimed to have a very prominent character and a Vanilla Role. Thus I don't think that the names will lead us towards PRs.

What I hope they will do is point us towards scum.
And if so, I expect the scum to lie about who they have.
And then I hope to catch people out in lying.

You've already helped scum enough claiming you're not a PR.
Now you want everyone to say if they are for or against nameclaim.
How does name claiming help the town?
I'm not even liking the voting for nameclaim thing.

How about this, we lynch thebuttonmen first.

I agree, but I think a mislynch on town Kinetic on Day 1 would be a bad thing.
If he is town, scum will probably be scared of his Scummies and NK him.

Maybe he is Inv-proof GF or something. That's the only reason I can see for him to be doing this. Perhaps he is acting suspicious so he will get investigated and cleared by cop.

Yes, I want everybody to be for or against a nameclaim

Name claiming helps town under the reasonable assumption that names reflect scum roles.

Why do you not like voting for nameclaim? Got a problem with people being forced to answer a question?

I completely disagree with that assessment.

To use characters that have already been hypotheticalled.

I can see "Syrio" and "Hodor" having as much chance of a PR as prominent characters.

Also, I don't see why we would be playing a game themed on the books if the bad guys didn't have obviously scummy characters. Sure there might be some borderline ones, but I think they'll likely be lannisters (mostly).

Note:
I've played the Game of Thrones Card Game. And it's actually the minor characters that have powers more often. The major characters just have good stats. Granted that doesn't translate directly in this game (there are no stats) but I'm just saying, your assumption isn't valid.
