1: i want to know everything regardless of alignment. the game is information interpretation. knowledge is critical.

Another was to guess the role/name of town players and use the guess to gain town-cred/buddy with that townie. It's the same pattern that RBT is using here; initially lurk, but when called on it try to buddy with and guess the role of another player.

--A corollary to this is that if RBT flips scum, meta argues that gamma is on a different team.

Bandwagoning desires aside, I feel like you were riding the vote on someone who wasn't even really that scummy to you when you could have been adding much more pressure to Dry-fit, who you had recently said was scummy.

At the time I started to suspect Dry, the vote was 3 for Zito, 1 for Dry. When it was 2 and 2 I wasn't yet suspicious of Dry. I feel like we're getting close to splitting hairs now though. The long and short of it is I wanted my vote on Zito so I left it there. Maybe there were better places for it, I liked it where it was.

Also, leaping ahead, [Riot] dissects my lurking, and Cruelty's, providing bolded links for impression value but not mentioning that the latest posts he uncovered were both extremely short and the three earlier ones were in a game approaching deadline. He seems to have done what might be called research but not given the Town with his empirical results any analysis or evaluation. Ehhhh.

This is just silly. I didn't really look too much into what was going on in outside games. All I was doing was checking to see who was around but not posting here. My evaluation was that none of you were posting here. That's as far as I intended to take it for now. I mentioned earlier in game that active lurking (among other things) is worse in my eyes than just not posting, so I'm not going to be too worried about it unless it becomes a pattern.

As for the links and such, that's just how I post. I don't really see what was wrong with it. If anything, providing the links lets other people look at the posts in question for themselves without my bias, so I'm not sure what you mean by "impression value". I would think you were implying that I'm being misleading, but that seems like the opposite of what I'd do if I were trying to direct votes. (WIFOM, I know. Whatever.)

1) Eh, theoretically speaking, I disagree. There are times as town when it is best to shut up and ignore certain discussions even if other townies seem to want to go that way.

2) what do you mean by "interested" in the hammer power quote? What do you find interesting about it?

Alright, I agree that this argument could be getting too nitpicky and I'm not as certain of it's strength anymore. I still think you were coasting on your vote and were trying to explain it away after, but maybe I'm over analyzing.

I think she is saying that people tend to give more town cred to fancy written posts with links than they do to poorly formatted text posts. This may or may not be true (perhaps on a subconscious level), but I think that's what she means by impression value.

CF, I wasn't uber-concerned by the lurking-tabs post (as evidenced by the 'Ehhhhh' thing - not great but not a hugely concrete scumtell). The long post you make in defense of this point is also ehhhhhh. I read it as very explainy and somewhat more defensive than was called for. Impression value is the 'look, pretty links, see, I'm doing such good scumhunting!' when . . . well, basically what Merkabah said.

How do you feel about his claim?

As I tried to state before, the circumstances and method of his claim are somewhat alarming to me. It seemed unnecessary at the time and scattered.

But I'm not condemning him just for that, and it also seems like my role info confirms some of his claim. I'd like to see an extended claim from him before making assumptions, though.
