I don't know how he normally acts, but VasudeVa hasn't really said anything about anything except for when he has been called out, and it is clear that he has read at least a little of the thread. I think the Jack/Zang conflict is townies butting heads, mostly because I've played with both of them before and Jack is looking similarly town, while Zang is actually playing, opposite of what he did as scum. Zang's vote on Jack looked OMGUS-like to me, but that isn't really founded in anything but my gut.

Fishy, I think I see where you're coming from now. I just got the feeling that you were entirely discouraging setup/abilities talk from the first post. I agree that it can never replace normal scumhunting, but I think that the discussion it provides when the market is actually going can help provide information that would support scumhunting.

@Fish: 1. No one is claiming whatever they bought(yet), so any discussion is theory and also moot. You yourself agree that we should not drown ourselves in speculation and that was what I was talking about.

2. Because without the powers, scum are NK-less, not to mention weak. Also if they didn't get it, some one else got it and they'll fear for their necks. Shouldn't that make them more interested in buying/finding out who got the powers hm?

@farside: the reason I think that being a double voter is a scumtell is just that scum would want that ability more. It's more important for them to have control of lots of votes, because they know what the right way to use them is. It's also a generally antitown ability whoever has it, at least at the start of the game.

Clearly, I don't believe in this enough to be voting for Jack at this point, but I do think it makes him a bit more likely to be scum.

I think your reasoning for thinking it is flawed. With the game as it's going and the NK and pick pocket being what sold the highest saying anyone who purchase the DV as being more likely scum is just dumb. I think the DV and who bought it is a null tell. I bid on it myself to keep it from scum hands and no one was thinking about it at the time.
Jack either bought it to help his scum team or had the same thought of trying to keep it from the scum.

I don't see the relevance of the NK and the pickpocket here. There are 4 scum players, and I don't think that one or two abilities being in scum hands (the NK very likely is, pickpocket could go either way) has much bearing on what else they might have bought.

Meh. Maybe you're right about bidding to keep it out of scum hands. My instinct is that town will generally be less interested in have multiple votes than scum, but that might just be because I never really thought about bidding for it myself.

I bought it because I like to gut vote and a double gut vote actually does something. It's like a free persuaded person.

I got it while I was already self voting and that was pretty much a random wagon, so VV's suggestion that I got it to somehow dispel the wagon on me is pretty silly.
