It will take a bit of time to calculate the results, so expect the deployment PMs to be distributed and DEFCON 3 to begin late Tuesday night (EST).

So still over 24 damnable hours.

Then speedlynches.

Then fun dancing time.

Fate and Dana are playing to their Fate/Dana meta, respectively.

Surprising no one.

That reminds me, as a compromise on the nuke thing we could institute the two man rule like in "the sum of all fears".

So nuking someone doesn't require town approval, but you have to get approval from two other people. Or one other maybe.

As long as I am that other person (hint: I am a drinking bird on the kill button) sure.

Or I'm just joshin and really this works out in the post-launch just fine. Because, really, if EVERYONE yells at your launch maybe you done screwed the dog and need to retract the killshot.

I'm not liking either of these statements, gentlemen. Toogeloo, is that some sort of temporary position, or are you actually advocating going through the game without telling us who you think is scummy and who isn't? Am I reading it out of context? I don't understand. chess, how is it possible for you to have such a firm town read on someone so early into the game? I have a couple of inklings, but there's no one here I would be even close to calling a for sure American.

So I got to page 16. Main thing I have to say is that the public declaration of a nuke is more than enough in terms of keeping a player accountable. If say, A nukes someone who town disagrees upon, and refuses to recall nuke with VI-stubborness, then A is in need of a nice nuking himself.
In essence, town gets to vote in a sense upon a nuking AFTER the nuke is launched, not before. As baby spice said, there is 3 days to recall the nuke. Pressure and subsequent discussion of a nuke is pro-town.

As for toog vs spyspy, I think what is at hand is a clash in playstyles. RC put it pretty well, in that you should pick what you are comfortable with. I see toog's argument in terms of preventing scum from taking roles like sub though.

There was something else I wanted to ask, but it has slipped my mind for the meantime.

Bunnylover@Katsuki wrote:: Your list I do not like. Dana, Chesskid, and Jed as scum. Those are what everyone is saying, so you posting that does not mean you are contributing with your reads. The town list is all those who have posted. Again nothing contributing
That is not what I did with my town list thanks for trying. Nor is that what I did with my scum list.

Also, you're one to accuse me for "lack of contribution", considering you've yet to take any solid stances on anything, reads included. (aka, soft-stances, fluff content)

Still have not had time to go back and catch up between pages 16-22. Will do so as soon as I find time to.

The response was to Fate when he asked my position on dana. I thought it was evident that I meant it for that particular moment when Fate was badgering me about who me reads were on. Of course I will be giving reads when I feel the time is correct to do so, what good would not telling people my reads do once we get into real scum hunting?

I get the feeling most people are misunderstanding the point behind a lot of my posts, not picking up on sarcasms, and just reading things at face value. I've been called out for posting things that I figured should be pretty evident that I was doing purposely. I'd say a good chunk of my posts in the last 48 hours or so should have a certain air of sarcasm and snarkiness to them.

That's what I figured. I'm not reading the game closely enough and it's really killing me to not have this game caught up on. I've been bitching about it, but it really is my fault ultimately for not staying on top of things. I'm going to be out of town this coming weekend
and
next weekend, but there's no way I'm replacing out. I've got a test this afternoon (Tuesday) and a little shopping to do, but I will make a nice post over the past ten pages or so before I leave on Thursday. I'll let the Mod know and I'll put it in my signature, but I submitted my list a while back so don't worry about that.

@Jack
: The launch buddy idea is nice; still, with bacon boy over here I think you're not going to struggle to find someone to back you up, which is the problem.

Toogeloo basically ignored my post. Here is my question again:
Toogeloo wrote:We could have half a dozen people with nukes every day in DEFCON 1. Do we restrict people on their nuke use?
You said this. What is your own answer to this question? Do you have any proposals?
A third, related question: What is your opinion of the
pages
of discussion about this issue already?
Your question is really quite odd.

Btw is it worth it to double-nuke people, so that even if they are in defensive mode, they still die? I feel like it is, since it would halve the number of nukes, and ensure that all nuked people died.

Wasn't my intention to ignore your question, I figured yours was just as rhetorical as you thought mine was.

I think I've kind of bled my opinions on the matter though. People who want to "appear" pro-town are going to state they have a nuke, while those that don't care are going to use the nuke how they want, including as pressure. I may have over exaggerated the thought that we will have a half dozen nukes a day when we get to DEFCON 1 because many of those will probably never get used because people will either have them in ICBM mode or they just don't feel like using them.

The reason I asked it was because of the "Kumbayah" feel that people want to use the nukes as a second lynch, yet we are going to have several people with nuking capability more than likely.

My overall opinion with the handling of nukes is to just leave it to each player. Don't hype the nuke, don't discuss it for a week prior to launch. Leave it to the player to decide if his read is good or not and use the 48 hours of recall time to discuss, or possibly the 24 hours before he decides to push the button. Some people may end up using the Nuke for it's fear factor and plan on recalling it anyways. The only thing most people need to fear is Fail Safe if they plan on playing with nukes since it's reactionary and can't be recalled.
