I can actually agree with the back up claim. We've got quite a bit of day 1 and as such we'll be able to look at the way people have played with the confirmed inocent.

Stef;Iknow that its anti-town because its made me play worse for sure. Its possible that I got confused with somebody else, I remember being confused when I saw your join date.

Backup claim sounds like a good idea to me. We get a confirmed Townie, and the only use I see for a backup PR is the 25% chance of Cop+Deputy. If we have a Doctor we're good to go on keeping that confirmed Townie around, and if we have Cop+Nurse then who cares much about the Nurse.

Because if the most lynchworthy player turns out to have a claim up their sleeve, then it leaves less room for the scum to hide in. They would have to be the most town-looking players to escape their own lynch.
Still waiting for Stef's opinion on backup claiming.-

Oooh, 24 hours. That sure counts for a lot.Alduskkel wrote:@DMG: Starting the game earlier is better because then there is more time to talk. DMG, it's still pro-Town. And you have not addressed my response to your case on me.
I must say that the hard part of buying your confusion is that neither I nor anyone else has experienced anything like that. I'd also like to point out that aside from attacking Hoopla for that, you've basically done little other scumhunting. All you really have is a generic ConfidAnon suspicion (which is now null because people who lurk for strategy reasons don't get replaced) and an unexplained suspicion of me.

Well, I would argue that Hoopla was not being anti-Town, and therefore I was not either. Process of Elimination I cannot address, unless you tell me how you are eliminating people. And gut I definitely cannot address. I will say that there is a lot that needs clarifying at this point in the game, so I am trying to clarify it. If you're wondering what exactly needs clarifying, just look at what I ask questions about.Da Mafia Godfather wrote:1. He helped Hoopla with her anti-town play.

1. Can you explain how Hoopla was being anti-Town, considering that I have given a pro-Town reason for her actions?
2. How are you eliminating players?
3. What's scummy about clarifying?CLICK HERE FOR THE ALDUSKKEL APPRECIATION PAGE

I guess I'm not sure what my opinion is of back up claiming. I have not played in a game with back ups before so I'm not sure what people generally do when back ups are playing. Are you asking for the back ups to step forward? How would that be a benefit to town?
And I'd like to comment on the "clarifying" debate. I don't think scum would be going above and beyond to clarify. They'd rather confuse, don't you think? So how is clarifying, or taking the time to clarify automatically anti-town?-

Are you an idiot. This is the most basic of mafia theory.Stefunny wrote:And I'd like to comment on the "clarifying" debate. I don't think scum would be going above and beyond to clarify.
1. Scum are more careful.
2. Careful clarification is a symptom of being careful.
3. Scum are more likely to engage in careful clarification.-

in this game there is a pr (doc/cop) and a backup (nurse/deputy)Stefunny wrote:I guess I'm not sure what my opinion is of back up claiming. since theres only a 50% chance that the backup will actually be useful (i.e backup the pr when the pr dies).
then if we mislynch today , 2morrow is lylo, which means there will be cc's.
if backup claims today = confirmed townie
ask whoever to explain it. i suck at vocabi hate walls, i will only skim walls.-

I still think that this plan overestimates the tendency and success of mafia counterclaiming, which in my experience is often easy to spot. But my experience isn't that wide, and I'm happy to go along with it if everyone else is. Stef, are you in favour then?-

BlakAdder, if you haven't found a replacement for CA, will you still be upholding the Saturday deadline?-

Lets make up our mind soon (ie; the next 12 hours or so), so we have a full 3-4 days of analysis to work with a confirmed alignment.Fenchurch wrote:I still think that this plan overestimates the tendency and success of mafia counterclaiming, which in my experience is often easy to spot. Okay. I was hoping to come to a unanimous verdict first, but it doesn't seem a bad move to make; Stef will just have to go along. And if it's CA then we'll know when no one else claims. I'm happy to start.
I'm not the backup power role.
By the way, no one should be claiming that they are a vanilla townie or anything else specific. Just backup or not backup. It's probably best to not specify which type of backup - I can't see an advantage to town knowing at this stage, and if mafia know then it gives them more opportunity to strategise the consequences of the backup being alive or not.-
