I don't like the Quilford wagon as I thought the flip comment was quite townie, and his defensive comments don't seem too off to me either.

What do you think he would say if he is scum?

I've never been lynched, or even near to it in my 2 completed games, but my gut reaction is that this is something I might have said if I was resigned to being "lunched".. It reads newb town to me because of that.

Quilford's emotive posting recently is interesting. He does seem rattled. In the past, I've seen it as a flailing scum tell, but not so sure now - I think it's definitely a new player tell, but not sure if you could call it alignment specific.

Personally I'd say that you felt from Sloth you would have feeerange to move your vote off him (to put on your favourite wagon) in a way that wasn't so concrete with Hiplop. The vanilla claim is something more likely to come from town in this case, and the manner it's came about is a fairly strong town tell, was expecting quilford scum to rage and claim 'OMG YOU OUTED THE ____' (choose your own adventure and fill in the blank)

As you've been saying, people haven't been giving good reasons that you're scum but voting you nonetheless. That's virtually no pressure, those votes won't hold up all the way through a lynch. When they all give compelling reasons for voting, that's when you're in hot water. I would be willing to bet that all but two or so of the people voting you would unvote at the first sign of scumhunting, but that never came.

Now that you've claimed vanilla, there's no reason to lynch someone besides you.
