I can see it coming from Benmage-VT (maybe even VT-turned-recruit) and I can see Benmage-CR using it to try and confirm himself. But, if LB DID get lynched and flipped town, Benmage-CR is dead which makes no sense for Benmage-CR.

That version of gambit is not something you do at this point in the game. You don't prep for a gambit like that in a cult game. It just doesn't add up.

The only tinfoil part of it is that cult targeted LB and failed. We haven't seen anything aside from LB being scum which would make that happen makes the most -logical- sense to me but LB doesn't feel like scum.

So it could have simply been to take out a solid player and trade recruits. Something that works because Ben as a recruit means that we've still got to get to the head of the snake.

Which this shot helps with.

It DOES make more sense that he pulled away from it. That would seem like more of a long-term survivalist type gambit. But, still, it's a little complex and hard to believe.

I am a 1-shot Vig variant. Embodiment of the Warrior for those who want the flavour claim.

I have a 1-shot Daykill that I can either use privately or in thread. I get another shot if I manage to kill a cult member. I wanted to wait as long as possible before using it to maximise the chance of hitting a cult member.

Considering where I am and that I am likely going to be eating rope I am willing to give my shot away to the majority. Recent consesus points to people like Emp, Spy, LB. Anyway, even if I nab a cult member today I'm not getting my next shot until tomorrow. I've been trying to get people to pay attention to my cult suspicions from when I replaced in for just this purpose, to find who the cult is so I can get them.

I think everything is true about this claim except alignment. I think he's mafia with a daykill and if he hits cult with it, he gets another kill. Makes perfect sense for mafia to be incentivized to take out cult.

Also, I don't see town in his position offering to give away the kill like this. If he were town, he should have SOME scum read strong enough to take them out and take responsibility. There are surely so many cult and mafia alive to influence it that it's just ridiculous for a townie to give it away to the mob.

I would expect there was a possible "oshit I might be a bandwagon" idea SOMEWHERE in his head, especially after the fake counterclaim turned real. Wouldn't it be better to pick someone we're more sure of and let Benmage take a second shot if we even want to believe this?
