Right, here's my answers;

1: Why do you play Mafia?
Because it's fun and I like arguing with people

2: How old are you?
24

3: How would you describe your general thought process?
Methodical and reflective

4: What is your time-zone?
GMT

5: How do you approach unique problems in need of solution?
Take a step back and look at the whole picture, then break it down into a process.

6: What is your favorite precious metal, and why?
I don't much care for any precious metals.

7: How would you approach this game as town?
The same as I would if I was mafia

8: How would you approach this game as scum?
The same as I would if I was town

9: What is your gender?
Male

10: Are you nervous?
No

11: What is your experience level?
Relatively experienced on other sites, but a first timer to mafia scum.

12: What are your strongest emotions?
I'm dead inside

13: What's your general activity level?
Usually quite active

14: What is your plan in this game?
Get to know how games are played on mafia scum.

15: Which do you prefer: RVS, RQS, or other? (If Other, please explain.)
I have no idea what RVS or RQS means

16: Do you have a reputation? What for?
No, but you'll quickly realise I'm quite up for an argument

17: Do you prefer playing as town, scum, or other? (If Other, please explain.)
I really don't mind.

18: What are your favorite three roles?
Again, I don't mind

19: What order are those favorite roles in?
I don't really have one

20: What is your stance on lurkers?
I don't like them. They tend to outlive the active players and the game can die towards the end

21: How do you plan on catching scum?
By reviewing voting patterns and by analysing each post in game terms.

22: What do these questions mean to you?
Nothing really

23: What is the airspeed velocity of a coconut-laden swallow?
42

24: You see someone waving their arms and directing you to go right. How do you respond?
By asking them why they want me to go right.

Not even the funny type of hideous.

My haggis is offended and he has told me he's coming after you.

it's ok though, everyone knows that a haggis has one leg longer than the other, and will only run in circles.

I know, it's more of a bunnet with a bobble. I was going to go for the Pokemon Farfetched, but I thought you may be unhappy at me for cramping your style.

Yeah, that's not a bad film. Just for clarification though, we don't all wear tribal blue paint and we do NOT steal eagles from the Romans. We just scare them into building massive walls in the North of England!

I thought about it when I was away. I didn't notice it at the time because it slipped through the cracks, but later thought, "wait a sec. I think Empking's missing one of them..."

Updated reads as of page 2:

TOWN: Empking
Johog
Vifam
Xeras
Kcdaspot
redFF

SCUM: David
Fool Hardy
Secret Project
Oversoul
Estyn
(Note to self--check how many players are actually in the game. Five scum tends to require at least 20 players.)

Estyn and Oversoul have strengthened my scum-reads.

Since they take me a while to read, I'll get back to you on Secret+Kcdaspot's posts. However--
I noticed that Secret only answered up to 22. There are 24.
Secret: Why did you cut the last two out?

Additionally.
Secret:
What makes my questions to you subjective?

I'll get back to Foolish Fool. But,
Foolish Fool:
Did you notice my 25A/25B?

Fool Hardy:
Same to you.

Honestly, my vision is impaired right now. Seeing lots of black dots which make it hard to read. :P Will get back with updated reads. This is through four, skipping where I mention I've skipped.

Sorry I missed those ones;

25A: Do you play more for fun, or more for the thrill of victory? Fun really... I'm mostly in it for the banter.

25B: Your stance aside, do you think others should play with a similar outlook? Explain why or why not. I think they should. It makes the game lighthearted and it also means that, if you do get into a game related debate or argument, no one will take it as a personal slight. That's the fun bit for me!

Vifam wrote:I like how Mastin has five townreads while I only have one.

lolMastin.

He's got 6 actually.

To be fair though, he has a 'scum' read on me. As far as I can see, that was initially from before I'd even posted on the thread.

I didn't think wannabe psychics would be allowed to play games on here. BAD MAN.

Can I just say something regarding the Johhog/Vifam thing.

I used to be an administrator on a website who used the same kind of forum (it wasn't a mafia one, and the site is long gone, so I'm not 'advertising' it at all). People who don't log out of their name but leave the site (whether they turn off their computer, internet or whatever) tend to still be 'active' on the forum for 15 minutes after their last movements.

I don't know if that's the case on this forum or not, and I don't know if Johhog was present to see Vifam's comment, but it's certainly a possibility that Johhog was still technically 'logged in' inactively.

Anyway, back to the game!

Estyn wrote:Stating your reads on each person and joke claiming are completely different things, i don't see the connection

1. Joke claiming? So you're NOT a VT?
2. I think the point was that claiming gives scum more useful NK information than stating reads.

You've misquoted me there, the joke was the "...Oops you said don't" part, not the part where i stated a role

You can't joke claim though and expect us not to wonder. The punchline might not have been the claim but the joke involved it. It matters in the same way that RVS votes are important. For instance, why did you joke claim VT? You could have joke claimed anything.

Wow, why are you pressing Estyn so hard? I jokeclaimed too (or did I :shifty: ) but you haven't asked me anything about that, why not?

Kyle: Yeah I know. It's proven now, it took 5-6 minutes for me to get logged out apparently. Btw, David isn't from P&B is he?

Not as far as I'm aware...

There's a few David's on there right enough, but I don't think any of them have come over here for a game.

Looking at the game so far; I really don't think there's anything to take from any of the postings so far. Everyone seems quite keen to create conversation (and by implication, argue) but there's nothing of any great substance to suggest that anyone has any kind of role. Nobody who has confirmed is flying under the radar, and I feel everyone is playing the game in a similar way.

I'm always most suspicious of people who point out loads of different players as potentialy mafia (there's one or two falling under that umbrella at the moment) but nothing particularly outlandish.

Empking wrote:FH: Once day begins will your vote be completely arbitary?

I'll likely be voting for someone who has been claiming this person is mafia and that person is mafia, ie someone who is trying to deflect attention away from themselves. The culture on here is completely different (this is a game of chess, I'm used to playing poker) so I might be completely wrong with my assumptions. I will stay true to my usual style though, and vote for the player who I feel is trying to manipulate attention away from themselves the most.

I don't like random voting as a rule (although i have used them in the past) so when i do vote, it will be backed up with reason and logic. It may be completely wrong, but it won't be baseless.

If I had to choose between the two, Random Questioning Stage would be my choice. Asking and answering questions is where it's at. I think anyone with a bit of game play savvy wouldn't fall for a random vote, so I think that's a bit of a waste of time.
