Yup, but I said I refreshed a couple of minutes later, maybe around X:40, and I saw David's post.

1. Joke claiming? So you're NOT a VT?
2. I think the point was that claiming gives scum more useful NK information than stating reads.

And for the record, to save everyone's faces, yes I am a dumb ass. Humor is usually lost on me.

Correct, i think he based his reads off the 25 questions, why else ask them :)

He called us scum before we I answered.

Vote: Kc tells

allright...

we all sent in 3 roles right?

our favorites?

what if we all got randomly assigned those?

all maf has to do is chose the non-scum role he/she submitted and play accordingly.

I didn't send in any roles and I checked our sent, Marill didn't either, unless they got deleted from that box. The mod hasn't pursued us about it. This is a normal game, not a U-pick. I don't think the roles people sent in matter.

Mastin: I cut the last two because they felt useless. I'm sure you think otherwise but meh.
And the subjectiveness: How well do we plan on working together? That's a stupid question. We don't decide to say, OK we're gonna seem like one person this game or ok we're gonna argue in-thread through the whole thing this game. It just depends on our reads, and the ways we'll react to the other people playing. I imagine we'll be similar to last game but that's not a plan at all. And again. I can't say I plan on having better reads. I'll try to, obviously, but that doesn't mean anything. Like the last question, our reads just depend on the ways we'll react to the other people playing. I'd PLAN to have the scum team(s) nailed by the time everyone's posted once but that's obviously not gonna happen.

Just wondering, as I don't feel particularly threatened yet, you had a scum read on us before we even answered your questions. My only post before that was "/confirm" Problem?

mastin2 wrote:I'm going to try something:

1: Why do you play Mafia?
To have fun

2: How old are you?
17

3: How would you describe your general thought process?
Depends, usually I'm quite analytical, but I have learned to trust my gut instinct as well.

4: What is your time-zone?
PST

5: How do you approach unique problems in need of solution?
Figure out exactly what information I know and then attempt to solve the problem with that information and the techniques I have learned that apply.

6: What is your favorite precious metal, and why?
Gold. Pretty and holds its value very well.

7: How would you approach this game as town?
Scumhunt to the best of my ability, stay as active as real life permits.

8: How would you approach this game as scum?
Appear to do the same as above while sabotaging the town.

9: What is your gender?
Male

10: Are you nervous?
Not really

11: What is your experience level?
20-25ish games completed on site?

12: What are your strongest emotions?
Probably anger, I have a bit of a temper

13: What's your general activity level?
At least one post a day usually more

14: What is your plan in this game?
Find scum, kill scum, win!

15: Which do you prefer: RVS, RQS, or other? (If Other, please explain.)
RVS

16: Do you have a reputation? What for?
Sadly, my town play is known for being somewhat lackluster when I'm a PR. I tend to overly rely on the PR and not rely enough on basic townie tools.

17: Do you prefer playing as town, scum, or other? (If Other, please explain.)
I don't really have a preference between the two. I enjoy both.

18: What are your favorite three roles?
Of the roles I've played, Vanilla Townie, JOAT, and Mafia Goon

19: What order are those favorite roles in?
VT, Goon, JOAT

20: What is your stance on lurkers?
Active lurkers = lynch, other kind of lurkers = replace

21: How do you plan on catching scum?
Probably combination of PoE from forming townreads and looking for scummy things in people's play.

22: What do these questions mean to you?
Not really sure what you mean here.

23: What is the airspeed velocity of a coconut-laden swallow? :P
3.14159 m/s :P

24: You see someone waving their arms and directing you to go right. How do you respond?
Go left unless that will a) result in me crashing something or b) result in me being crashed into by something

Answers in bold.

The argument about whether or not Johhog was online to answer that question is just plain dumb.
I'm a talking computer.

Can I just say something regarding the Johhog/Vifam thing.

I used to be an administrator on a website who used the same kind of forum (it wasn't a mafia one, and the site is long gone, so I'm not 'advertising' it at all). People who don't log out of their name but leave the site (whether they turn off their computer, internet or whatever) tend to still be 'active' on the forum for 15 minutes after their last movements.

I don't know if that's the case on this forum or not, and I don't know if Johhog was present to see Vifam's comment, but it's certainly a possibility that Johhog was still technically 'logged in' inactively.

Anyway, back to the game!

You can't joke claim though and expect us not to wonder. The punchline might not have been the claim but the joke involved it. It matters in the same way that RVS votes are important. For instance, why did you joke claim VT? You could have joke claimed anything.

I joke claimed vanilla townie because it was the first role that came into my head while i was writing the post, there wasn't any ulterior reason for it.

Wow, why are you pressing Estyn so hard? I jokeclaimed too (or did I :shifty: ) but you haven't asked me anything about that, why not?

Kyle: Yeah I know. It's proven now, it took 5-6 minutes for me to get logged out apparently. Btw, David isn't from P&B is he?

Not as far as I'm aware...

There's a few David's on there right enough, but I don't think any of them have come over here for a game.

Looking at the game so far; I really don't think there's anything to take from any of the postings so far. Everyone seems quite keen to create conversation (and by implication, argue) but there's nothing of any great substance to suggest that anyone has any kind of role. Nobody who has confirmed is flying under the radar, and I feel everyone is playing the game in a similar way.

I'm always most suspicious of people who point out loads of different players as potentialy mafia (there's one or two falling under that umbrella at the moment) but nothing particularly outlandish.

Well, I think we should be somewhat concerned if you're trying to find out if someone's a PR. Seemed like a very scummy thing to say.

As for your last part, I tend to do this no matter if I'm scum or town and I can honestly not see what's wrong with it. I tend to look at players as teams instead of individuals.

Btw you are reading town to me so far along with Estyn and Foolish Fool. Vifam is scummy. That's all I got right now.

I'll likely be voting for someone who has been claiming this person is mafia and that person is mafia, ie someone who is trying to deflect attention away from themselves. The culture on here is completely different (this is a game of chess, I'm used to playing poker) so I might be completely wrong with my assumptions. I will stay true to my usual style though, and vote for the player who I feel is trying to manipulate attention away from themselves the most.

I don't like random voting as a rule (although i have used them in the past) so when i do vote, it will be backed up with reason and logic. It may be completely wrong, but it won't be baseless.

Fool_Hardy: Hm... do you prefer the RQS (Random Questioning Stage) to the RVS (Random Voting Stage) then or do you want something else?

Vifam: I really hope you are scum and not stupid. Save my skin from what? From your case build around me not answering your question when I'm asleep? I fucking proved it takes 5 minutes to log out. Test it itself if you want to. I'll just say one more thing dude, Occam's Razor. WHY THE HECK would I pretend to be off-line to avoid answering a question which I will still have to answer next day, in the pre-game. I can't see how that makes sense.

If I had to choose between the two, Random Questioning Stage would be my choice. Asking and answering questions is where it's at. I think anyone with a bit of game play savvy wouldn't fall for a random vote, so I think that's a bit of a waste of time.
