They basically adopted this plAn for endgame except with me nuking after inhim nuked me. If Mina had not made this post I would've been in a much better spot to drive the town.

For the record, I don't think Pooky was "lolstupid" for trying it - he obv. intended to force a panicked quicklynch with the fake nuke, but he probably should have asked if it would have been counted as deceiving the mod before doing it (cf. rule 14)

What he tried to pull is EXACTLY why the rule was there in the first place. If you know you can't Nuke throwing a Fake Nuke in a time sensitive environment (AGM can't instantly react) violates that rule 100%. It can't be argued.

This is exactly the reason for the rule. In a perfect world, I would immediately post launch sequences after they were initiated, so players would instantly know whether a nuke was fake or not. However, I can't be online all the time, so players need to be able to assume a

Nuke: [PLAYERNAME]

is actually a nuke. Otherwise, the game would fall to pieces.

With regards to this specific situation - my goal as a mod is to be as consistent as possible so every player feels they are being treated fairly. In DEFCON 2.0, I ruled that player intent was the deciding factor when enforcing Rule #14, not simply their actions in a vacuum. In other words, honest mistakes that were immediately corrected would be forgiven, whereas intentional deceit would face consequences. I think this is a fair interpretation because it corrects the actual problem the rule was created to solve instead of just enforcing a regulation for the sake of it. Consequentially, it was pretty clear in this case that Pooky's plan the entire day had been to deceive, so I went with the stricter punishment.

As far as DEFCON 4.0 goes - I think the setup needs some balance work and I have some other themes I want to try, but there will probably be one in the future ... perhaps with some shiny new mechanics. The two rule ideas I am toying with right now are radiation level, which would trigger abilities and penalties based on the number of nukes launched, and changing defensive mode to SAM (surface-to-air) mode, which would allow you to intercept anyone's missiles, not just ones targeting you. I'll be sure to send anyone who played previous DEFCON game a heads up if this ever comes to fruition.
